Thumbs up NVIDIA Working on Faster GeForce GTX 650 Ti

In an attempt to avert the threat posed by the upcoming AMD Radeon HD 7790 "Bonaire," NVIDIA is reportedly changing the specifications of its current GeForce GTX 650 Ti. The company could increase reference clock speeds of its current GTX 650 Ti, without tinkering with physical specifications such as CUDA core count (of 768) or memory bus width of 128-bit. The GTX 650 Ti currently features reference clock speeds of 925 MHz core, and 1350 MHz (5.40 GHz GDDR5-effective) memory. The rehashed GTX 650 Ti could be released towards the end of March, or early-April.

There have been some rumors of a GTX 660 SE (768 CC, 192-bit) coming in around Q1/April 2013. I wonder if this apparently MIA part has been internally replaced by this new GTX 650 Ti.

Both camps do it, 680 & 670 comes out then 7970 & 7950 ghz edition is released as a new sku.

As long as the price is right and the product competitive is all that matters.

The ZOTAC GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost graphics card has 768 CUDA cores. It’s clocked at 993 MHz for base and 1059 MHz for boost. The memory is clocked at reference speed of 6 GHz. The card comes with 2GB GDDR5 memory across 192-bit interface. Its dual-fan cooler is colored with gray and orange so it should fit into the ZOTAC lineup perfectly. Below you can see all details about this card. Notice a 140W TDP.

The core clock is a bit higher than what was rumored. Is it a pre-overclocked model?

    yep thats what it is.

    I can imagine it: Nvidia
"Everyone is selling our cards oc'd and at a premium, we should do that too"
    MSI: "haha"

Nvidia telegraphed they are releasing the 700 series next year with that conference they hosted. If it happens this year it will be in December (maybe last week of November) and most likely would be a paper launch.

Remember we only got the 2GB cards, so it's not $150-170, it's just $170 for now. Of course, as my conclusion said,

In this market segment, money talks. The GTX 650 Ti BOOST is listed as having a (reference) MSRP of $169. That’s $20 more than the HD 7790′s $149, or 13%. However, that 13% price premium translates to 17-31% FPS increase, depending on the game. AvP, Batman, CivV & Dirt 3 come in at 27-31% higher FPS. That’s nothing to sneeze at. In fact, those games increase double FPS per dollar over the HD 7790.
I know these are lower end cards, but even though it's stressful getting two NDA cards at once and both have ~3 days to review, it is FUN being on the front lines of this kind of battle.
