Hmm am getting a score of below 10000 PPD, using the 480 GTX so am wondering if that is normal or too low, I am using the latest drivers maybe that's the problem... I did notice that the PPD on my Linux Client runs at 14000, with a much greater Credit.... for some reason it does not run though, it just stays at Update_Core... so am gonna try it on my Hackintosh to see if their is any differences..... Ill let you guys know...

^^ WOW amazing differences between drivers, I was using the Latest WHQL Certified and I was getting close to 9000 PPD with a 480 GTX now that am using the Latest BETA am getting 29000 PPD what a difference!! Peeps if you are folding with Nvidia GPUs avoid GeForce 306.97 Driver and go for a BETA they are better!

I went and checked the NVIDIA drivers, and they have 310.70 WHQL posted. I upgraded to those and didn't see any lift from my GTX460 or GTX260

I know that it has been awhile since I have posted here, but I have been chugging along. Recently I acquired a i7 and may need configure it for more points. Either way, you should notice a jump in points.

Yeah, I kinda wish I would have kept my F@H running over the 5 years I dissapeared from the forums.

    updating PPD...

"Tuned" the cards with EVGA's tool.
Increased speed of fans from 60% to 80%. (85% is max)
Kept max TDP at 100% and temp at 80% for stability

    This is a different system.

Only 2 GPU cards used, but dual socket motherboard.
Due to a better thermal budget, both GPUs are oc'd.
Themperature is 53 Celsius for the CPUs and 60/70 for the GPU's.
PPD is in the same ballpark as the previous system.

I wish mine would work on my GPU.

It refuses to use it past 30% of its ability

as would be expected from titan, those are some pretty impressive ppd, but as davidkozat said I wouldn't want to have to pay that electric bill lol. I just got back from my deployment and updated to the latest NVidia drivers and F@H software version. loaded it up and added the GPUs and they seem to be working like a charm. I decreased the CPU dedication to cores down to 75% (so the other 25% can be dedicated to the GPUs) and seem to be pushing 85-95k ppd (up from about 30-35k with just the CPU previously). won't have a good average until I can let my PC run without touching it for a few days. I also want to experiment with how much CPU I dedicate to folding (with regards to the rest pushing to the GPUs) to get the best ppd. I'm water cooling my CPU and 690, so I have the 690 boosted to over 1200 MHz. haven't OCed the 3930 yet (should be installing the indigo xtreme this weekend), but will have it OCed soon as well. will update as i have more info...

    Interesting perspective ...
The care about electricity and overclocking (which has the "highest" diminishing marginal utility).

If we would flip the benchmark metric around, what would be your PPD/watt ?

Mine would be: 315 PPD /watt

    perhaps that is my problem

My i7 920 is oc'd at 3.0 atm and I have it set to 100% while my GPU a 5850 and doesnt seem to use more than 30% of itself (and im not sure if thats even F@H).

So if I decrease the CPU that will allow the GPU to gain more?

Cause it looks like my GPU is running a seperate protein atm.

Also electricity doesnt matter to me as it is a tax write off

Also my current main Rig only gets 11k at max.

The only reason im at 47k avg is because I have about 20 machines running it (most are just old core 2's, 3 are i5's)

that could very well be an issue. in a previous post I noted that my old 965E put out just as much PPD as it did when I was also running a GTX285 (sometimes, disabling the 285 actually INCREASED PPD!!). remember: it takes CPU cycles to push data to the GPU, so you're starving the GPU by running the CPU at 100%. but, not only that, every time you have to push data to the GPU you also have to interrupt what the CPU is doing - lowering it's performance as well. by decreasing the CPU to 75-80% you are effectively allocating that CPU performance to pushing data to the GPUs. how much is needed? I have no idea, that's why I want to run some tests to see. I know I set my CPU usage to 80% and it was still running at 98-100%

    Interesting perspective ...

OCing a 3930 and a GTX690 results in about +220W power draw (above stock) which equals about 52$/mo (GE) and 9.50$/mo (US). is it worth it? that's entirely up to the individual note: power draw numbers were taken from varying reviews across the web

    so I crunched some numbers:

    24*30=720 hrs/mo
    stock/OC 3930 = 250/400W
    stock/OC 690 = 270/340W
    stock/OC system power draw = 630/850W

    Germany: .33 $/1kW/1hr = 237$/mo (850W = 202$/mo)

    US: .06 $/1kw/1hr = 43$/mo (850W = 37$/mo)

as you can see, things are a bit different here in Germany (about 5-6x the US). while its not enough to make me shy away from folding (or make purchases based on power consumption rather than performance desires) it is enough to say it matters. (it just doesn't matter enough to make me stop )
