I'm using trfc 110 for 2200mhz 9-9-9 but the refresh cycle interval must be lower also, using 6400 for that.

On the 8gb sticks? I get no post with TRFC below 194 @ 2200mhz. Not doing too well to be honest, Im struggling to get true stability at 2200, im finding I can complete a few stress tests then it usually hangs the app. The sticks I have definitely are nowhere near the same bin as the 1866mhz 9-9-9 1.5v ballistix 16gb kit. Im guessing totally different ICs.

Have you tested if your kit can do the specs of the 16GB Ballistix kit? 1866 9-9-9-27 @ 1.5V.

as mention earlier this RAM won't play nice above 1066,

P.S. this app is great if you own BalistiX

Yeah it wont, 9-10-9-27-1T 1.5v is at least close to stable. No post with any of those timings reduced, would probably need 1.6v for 8-10-9 and 1.65v for 8-9-9 / 8-9-8 if it follows behaviour at 2133 and 2200mhz.

Definitely not the same chips as the 2x8gb ballistix kit

    EDIT:
Couldnt stabilise 1866mhz 9-10-9 no matter the volts. 9-11-10 was ok at 1.525v. TRP = TRCD-2 seems to generate a bsod as well. Must have TRP within 1 clock of TRCD.

Tested 2133mhz with HT on and 16 thread hyperpi and had to back that off to the same timings as 2200mhz: 10-12-11-30-1T.

That's me done with the 8gb D9QBJ sticks, theyre good value kits if you want to do some basic clocking but definitely isnt the same bin/IC as the ballistix 1866 C9 8gb sticks. Cant push them hard.

Saw this at half price and couldnt resist. Very unlikely to be QMS, most likely old stock.

that's 30nm micron, but probably with worse binning, but i really think there is no binning at all

Ive never seen any evidence of any binning in the ballistix line either. My old 1333mhz D9 kit had GTS on it. The only questionable one these days would be the Sport kits, but tbh that looks like a standard pcb with ballistix binned ICs so probably near enough the same.

Arrived, cant get the spreaders off though. Any trick to the elite kits or have I just got one thats welded on?

    Could be QMS or just a good older kit - can boot to windows 1.65v 8-8-9-1T 2200mhz, 9-9-9-27-1T 1.65v hyperpi 8x32m stable. Also 7-7-7-21-1T 1.5v 1600mhz and 6-6-7-20-1T 1.62v 1600mhz are hyperpi 8x32m stable.

Good kit, no time to test properly at the moment, but confirms the 1600mhz kits are just as viable as the 1866mhz kits. Note - auto gives much tighter secondary timings, also LB auto gives TRRSR 4 so manually set TRRSR 5 if using this kit over 2000mhz, 6 for over 2200mhz and 7 for over 2400mhz. Only tested these for post, not boot.

    Dear XBrytanX.

I see 2 code in one stick. It's unexpected.

    Good catch, ihog6hog!

Shame on Crucial for mixing them up.

Maybe similar to GTS and GTR - both the same chip but one rated 15ns the other 12.5ns so basically interchangeable.

Ive seen this from G.Skill too - one of my 2gb 6-8-6 XMD kits had a mix of BASE and BBSE, the others were all PSC D and G mixed.

    Nice catch!

Looks like they've switched both ICs to the :K revision now.

    Yes, MT41K256M8DA-15E a.k.a. D9PFW (:M) or D9QMS (:K) is the 1333 CL9 part, MT41K256M8DA-125 a.k.a. D9PFJ (:M) or D9PSH (:K) is the 1600 CL11 part.

I would love to see pics of those mixed G.Skill kits!

Concerning the binning on the Ballistix line, I don't think that there is no binning at all, on the DDR2 Ballistix the difference between the 5300, 6400 and 8500 kits was definitely noticeable, although all of them were doing well.

My 5300 kit had GTS and is still the only kit I have ever hit a stable 100% oc on. Found it as a dual kit languishing at the bottom of a clearance bin with 75% off .

Ive still got two of the xmd kits so ill pull the spreaders and see whats on them. Im thinking it was mixed PSC D and E actually. I ditched the mixed elpida kit as it didnt go high enough, but may have a pic somewhere. All kits were purchased as a lot from the same store on sale.

I think your kit with D9GTS was a 10600 = 1333 kit, 5300 was DDR2, one of the D9GMH kits. Those could overclock 100% as well though.

The 1600 6-8-6 kits from G.Skill should all be PSC Xxx of some kind, I don't think the newer revisions can do those timings. On the 7-8-7 kit you can find both Xxx and Txx.

Doh thats it, GMH . My old brain cant keep track of all this D9 fun over the years .

1600 6-8-6 1.5v XMD definitely shipped with bbse/base, though it could be rare. There was a sudden cheap glut of the 2x2gb kits appeared here around 18 months ago, right when the cheap 4gb 1600 sticks and x79 kits were starting to show up. Got 6 kits, 3 were matched PSC, 2 unmatched PSC and 1 BBSE with 4 BASE chips per stick. Im sure I have a picture somewhere, got too many damn hard drives with test installs on though. I surmised at the time they were clearing a stockpile of chips unbinned as basically any psc or elpida will do 1600 6-8-6.

When I can get chance ill look at the kit I have left, my son was born last tuesday and its just havoc lol.

Now that's the really important news in that post.

Congrats!! Don't do that, it's good to ingest some bacteria for breakfast, that will keep you strong, and your son.

The remaining XMD kit I have is matched PSC sadly. I'll keep my eyes open for any pics and will check where I sold them on to, see if i cant track the mixed bbse/base down .

Back on topic to this thread....anyone managed prime stable @ 2000 8-8-8-24-1T? Im hyperpi stable at 1.60vdimm, but cant get 8 threads of prime running for more than 5 mins without one or more dropping. This is using a 3770k + M5F (black slots more stable). Tried higher vdimm but it gets less stable, vccsa and vccio have been tested up to 1.15v / 1.25v.

Anyone using this ram on the M5F try using the samsung 2x4gb tight profile. Thats good for 2133mhz 9-9-9-27-1t @ default volts throughout for hyperpi. Slight bump of one or more of the main 3 voltages needed for prime stable though, still tweaking @ 1.55v/0.975v/1.1v.

Its a shame I cant get 1600 stable with any primaries at 6. I can get close but not quite. Same with 1866mhz and primaries at 7 (though I havent tested 1800mhz yet).

I have a feeling given how tight second and third timing sets go that the fastest gaming and 24/7 setting would be at tightest timings not highest mhz.

If I'm not mistaken, the last part of the Tracer's model number, the "XRG" and "XOP" just means Reg & Green LEDs vs Orange & Blue LEDs (check the description and you'll see reference to "Red/Green", also, I believe that your "OP" should read "OB", with the "B" for Blue (it is not a "P"). Has nothing to do with revisions / newer models, etc., as far as I'm aware.

    The OB link:
