BTW: I am most likely adding some fairly nice water cooling very soon. A Coolgate 140.3 radiator... maybe a koolance 380 waterblock... D5 pump. Then I'll run it again and we'll see what I can get.

(Then I have to save up for an ATI 8970 and full face waterblock for that... because they should be available by the time I have enough money for them.)

    BTW: At 4.8Ghz I get 365.85.

@FlanK3r, I haven't run 3dMark05 in a long time, but I installed it to see if I could recreate the instability. I had a blue screen during the "return to proxycon" cpu test also. Is that where you had issues? Like you I have no instability in any other benchmarks.

informal: That Maxwell Bench is pretty interesting, thanks for the link...

I've been playing with it a little more tonight and it won't finish with crazy clocks like CB11.5 did.
I managed to get CB to complete @ 5.2+Ghz, Maxwell wouldn't have any of that!
The best clocks I could get it to finish with was ~4.9 and scored 363.43.

keithlm says he got 365.85 @ 4.8Ghz (Gratz!), so it may turn out to be a nice bench for efficiency/stability...
I'll have to play with it a little more and see if it helps me tweak my rig...

I'll run it again. For some reason it ran but when I hit "send result" it failed. I thought when I did the bios option for overclocking it had disabled the NIC... because it does disable the soundcard... but it had not disabled the NIC... the browser worked after that... it just failed for some reason. So I'll run it again.

On the other hand... I'm a heartbeat away from pulling trigger on the water cooling stuff... I so want those nice new shiny toys... so I might just wait... I've got a bonus coming from work... and my wife says I can do whatever I want... but we are going to Las Vegas in two weeks... such a choice... fancy water cooling or lots of "throwing around" money. Can't decide. Both? (Actually I want to use the money on a new DSLR.. the Pentax K5-IIs... so maybe.. ALL THREE?)

I was able to get through a 3dMark05 run this morning, after a small voltage bump from 1.476 to 1.488. It is also very cold in this room, cpu temp only 27 C after benchmark run, so not sure if temp is relevent or not.

It's very interesting benchmark since unlike C11.5 it likes AMD cores .

    New toy

    1.375 VID

Only had time to install it and do some quick tests. But 5ghz ~1.5v seem possible. Will test some more later tonight.

Edit: Viking1962, for a valid I would say its possible.

With only the best module at 5 GHz it could be plausible.

its possible he got to windows, then down clocked the voltage letting it idle at that state until it crashed. i dont believe it will ever run any load at that setting, but idling might have let it survive.

Looks to me like CnQ was enabled and somehow CPU-z caught it while it was showing the lowered voltage while still displaying the higher multi's...
Just my guess, because that's about where mine idles when CnQ has kicked in (although my multi would be @ 7x ).

Hope you don't think I was doubting your score man... I DO believe you!

I know allot of folks have lost faith in Prime95 when it comes to BD/PD cores. I'll admit it's hard to pass with AMD's new Uarch!
I still put some faith in it though when it comes to stability...

That being said, so far my testing with this Maxwell bench has proven to be a nice test for daily stability/efficiency!
It's not as easy to pass as CB11.5, but so far passing it has resulted in a daily stable rig...
The most important thing to me is Video Encoding, and if I can pass Maxwell, Encoding has passed too...

Pretty sure I'm close to the limits of my gear (on ambient WC), but here are a couple SS's:
CnQ is enabled with these clocks, so power consumption/temps are within reason @ idle.

These clocks were good and resulted in a Maxwell score or 373.64, and have also resulted in daily stabilty since it passed (even in Encoding).

BTW: I've noticed your moving to water cooling and was curious about coolant...
Distilled water and PTNuke has worked best for me.

For ~10min of prime stability, this is where I'm at atm. Custom water and cores topping out at ~52C? These things runs very cool...

Not counting on getting much more core freq out of it, but the IMC might have some more in it. ~1.3v cpunb for the screen.
