I remember when we passed Easy News. They are way back in the mirror.
If we can keep 73M PPD constant, it'll only take 158 days to pass IBM!

I'm headed off home. No way I could scrape up a sliver of pie this time. Well done to those who managed it!

Ok I have put last night three additional HD 7970 and two GTX 580 on the line. It should add a little something. Unfortunately I have been not able to make those boards crunch more than one WU at a time. The app_info files do not seem to work and I am not sure were to put them into the BOINC files. If I could have more GPU WU running in parallel then I could do more. My CPU's are all 980X so they can well handle this.

remember: close boinc manager/stop boinc service> Open notepad> copy/paste one of these into the new document>save as app_info.xml in your <boinc>\data\projects\www. worldcommunitygrid. org folder> start boinc manager.
or
<boinc>\ = where you told BOINC to install to but on Win7 it should be ...
C:\Program Data\BOINC\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org
Folders maybe hidden default so you must change folder options in windows.
I am running GPU only (ATI) app_info and have zero problems so far.
running 12 threads with 7950 and 3930K and other machine 7870 CF 12 threads in 3930K all runing fine. Maybe not mix ati and nvidia cards
on to one machine.

I couldn't get the GPU HCC only app_info to work, so I used the GPU HCC and CPU HCC then turned off CPU computing on the Device Profile. Give that a try if you can't get the GPU only app_info to work. It's on the same link krjalone provided.
I have some difficulties by understanding what means ATI GPU only or GPU+HCC etc..
I am crunching only HCC at the moment to make it simple. So CPU and GPU should all crunch HCC WU.
What I see is that I have one WU that is crunched and displayed as (1 CPU + 1 ATI GPU).
There are 12 threads on the CPU (980X with Hyperthreading) running.
Some additional help is welcomed.

Hello Eta..,
I suggest that you read and post in this thread : "working with app_info" it is here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...app_info-files
HCC = Help Conquer Cancer
WU = Work Unit
GPU WU = work unit processed by graphic card + CPU (much faster than CPU)
CPU WU = work unit processed by CPU
For ATI graphic cards HCC is the only project that presently offers ATI graphic card WUs. Just keep in mine that HCC has two type of WUs:
CPU only HCC WUs
CPU + ATI GPU HCC WUs
Welcome aboard,
Jean-Guy

OK ... this will run 8 HCC tasks using your 7970 and all left over cores will run hcc on your CPU
1. fully stop BOINC
2. rename app_info file to __app_info.xml
3. restart BOINC until you have some regulat HCC and some HCC (1 CPU + 1 ATI GPU).
4. Stop BOINC
5. Overwrite the information inside __app_info.xml
6. Save file as app_info.xmlCode:<app_info> <app> <name>hcc1</name> <user_friendly_name>Help Conquer Cancer</user_friendly_name> </app> <file_info> <name>wcg_hcc1_img_6.56_windows_intelx86__ati_hcc1</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>hcckernel.cl.6.56</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>wcg_hcc1_img_6.56_windows_intelx86</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>hcc1</app_name> <version_num>656</version_num> <platform>windows_intelx86</platform> <plan_class>ati_hcc1</plan_class> <avg_ncpus>1.0</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>0.783972</max_ncpus> <coproc> <type>ATI</type> <count>.125</count> </coproc> <file_ref> <file_name>wcg_hcc1_img_6.56_windows_intelx86__ati_hcc1</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>hcckernel.cl.6.56</file_name> <open_name>hcckernel.cl</open_name> </file_ref> </app_version> <app_version> <app_name>hcc1</app_name> <version_num>656</version_num> <platform>windows_intelx86</platform> <avg_ncpus>1.000000</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>1.000000</max_ncpus> <flops>3231932486.733310</flops> <api_version>6.13.0</api_version> <file_ref> <file_name>wcg_hcc1_img_6.56_windows_intelx86</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info>
7. Restart BOINC
Once you have this working for all your PCs that have a 7970 let us know and we will help get the GTX580 working also
Thanks Snow Crash. I will give it a try. Stay tuned.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Unfortunately it is not working.
Only one thread with GPU.
I feel a little stupid on this. Anyway I am getting old.
I did as mentioned. Here is the sequence:
Stopped Boinc (Latest Berkley version 64 bit)
Created an __app_info.xml file with the code as per Snow Crash post here above.
Inserted the file in the following directory: C/Program Files (x86)/Boinc/Projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org
Then restarted Boinc
I have HCC CPU and GPU files but at this stage again only one GPU thread.
Then stopped Boinc.
Opened the __app_info.xml file (using notebook) and overwrote the whole code again as per code above.
Renamed the file app_info.xml
Relaunched Boinc and no change.
Maybe I did some things wrong.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Did you stop boinc completely? Or just the boinc manager? Check task manager to see if boinc is stopped.
And is the xml file really saved as a xml file? Right click and properties to check this.
The file goes in Boinc/programDATA/projects/worldcommunitygrid.org
I made this mistake at first, too. I aborted all tasks, close boinc, placed the file in the correct folder mentioned above, set GPU to .125 with <count>.125</count>, saved file, loaded up boinc, and updated to get new tasks. Read through Snowcrash's messages again and try my instructions and see if that helps.
Eta,
What OS are you using? You state that your boinc ver is 64 bit so you should not be using the C/Program Files (x86) directory but rather the plain C/Program Files if you are winxp or vista.
And what one.shot said for win7.
