Is quite clear that this "magical Catalyst" is just a scam by AMD and attempt a better view of the company ahead of tomorrow's FX fiasco. Higher fps are paid with worse Aniso and antialiasing quality!

Remember that "Computerbase magical Catalyst" case? - This is the same situation.

dont forget though, they got their gpu 9 months ago.
those who buy a 7900 now will only have a few months before the 8xxx comes out.

theres honestly enough competition that buying at ANY time is quite fair (the last generation however i feel was too pricey)

lol , nooo it couldn't be about anything like amd launching that new program "AMD Gaming Evolved" to work with game developers to properly setup optimizations for their gpu's and cpus lol.
like nvidia has done for years "way its meant to be played"

    What are you on about?

I didn't see (during actual gaming) any differences in image quality. Plus, we always disable Catalyst AI in testing so the benefits are still there even without the optimizations you talked about.

As for tomorrow's Vishera launch, I have a feeling you'll be eating your words.

    :::::::::::::
@PedantOne: you speak about computerbase, but have you just read the article they have done about this driver ? At first i was too a bit supsicious, but like all review have the same results..
    Conclusion Computerbase.de (translated )

We must admit that we have often fallen a driver as good as the beta version of the Catalyst 12.11 - maybe even never. While there are no new features, but the increased speed is impressive. Four to five percent more power on a Radeon HD 7000 card in 1920x1080 for a pure driver update is remarkable.

Especially Battlefield 3 shows the Catalyst 12.11 a proper power explosion and provides part of more than 30 percent additional frames per second than the previous driver. That this increase in power does not come at the expense of image quality, we have also examined - in terms of image quality, there are no differences between the drivers.

Problems we encountered with the Catalyst 12.11 does not, the driver is able to complete all the tests properly. Accordingly, we encourage anyone with an owner Graphics Core Next-only graphics card, install the Catalyst to 12.11 despite the beta stage.

Holy $hit. Always thought the 7xxx had untapped potential but never thought it was this big. 7970 Ghz is clearly the fastest GPU out there and the 7850 (after OC preferably) along with the bundle is an absolutely cracking deal, one of the best price/performance ever IMO

Well for those still looking, and given that Guru3d link is dead I've rehosted the drivers, you can go here and download. I'll try to mirror it some place else too so download speeds are acceptable.

repeating the same action over and over expecting a different outcome. when it has not resulted in a different outcome yet, repeating the same action over and over

I think repeating yourself over and over also applies.

only if you're expecting a different outcome and have not yet got a different outcome. cause if you repeat yourself over and over , knowing the outcome will be the same as before, even if said outcome is a difference. there is nothing insane about it.

Hopefully this gives Nvidia second thoughts about using gk114 as the gtx 780. The performance deficit along with the difference to the ghz editions, the gtx 680 moniker and the restrictive over volting properties from Nvidia this generation make me feel they got a bit too y this generation. Similar to AMD at the launch of the 7970. However AMD has managed to fix alot of the mistakes they made with the 7970 launch. If I am going to pay top dollar for a card from Nvidia, it better have more than a 256bit bus. AMD is finally offering the good value they are known for which I applaud them for. Something tell's me they can't be making much money from this deal though.

So, I could have got a brand new 7770s for my crossfire setup which now outperforms the used 6850s I got for the same price??? Got to love biased drivers Ah, I'm exaggerating....I guess I saved $60 going with the 6850s.

How is it possible you don't see differences.
