Sorry for the slow reply Sergio...... I now have my IHS glued back on but can say I did not notice any die damage at all in the month or so I had my chip with the loose IHS & LM.

The die is much more resilient than you may imagine..... as I understand it the majority of what we see is just a big blob of silicon & the business end of this where all the transistors are is at the bottom of this hence just like in the AMD Athlon XP 2500 days you can get away with knocking the edges off & it still works.

Thanks C-N i kow the die is resitant as i scratched one and still working but as im lazy to take out mobo again and put the chip i do it with the mobo in so while im installing the chip to hold it i have to use finger and of course the IHS dances over the die till the bracket can hold it thats my concern

This is why I glued my ISH back on.... I figured the amount of times I had the chip out of the socket & had to fiddle about to get the IHS centred properly annoyed me. Sometimes I had to do several re mounts to get even temps so I figured get it right & glue it back on & that'll be the end of the drama. Besides its easy enough to cut it off again anyway.

Decided to glue it onfrom the beginning. Much easier to work with, especially if your board is in a case.

it would be nice to see a little 3Dmark tests, instead of all the 2D test, to see how much more it can now also provide, as 3D requires a bit more of CPU
also to hear about tempen keeps all the way home

About 2 weeks after IHS MOD

    Same ambient temperature,same test

    4.3 Ghz - 1.10 Vcore

    4.3 110.jpg

    Core 1: 60 °C
    Core 2: 65 °C
    Core 3: 65 °C
    Core 4: 58 °C

Improvements: temperature are finally stabilized, vcore needed to be stable is less

I opened a 3570k yesterday that had a zone on those large pads of the IHS that was really really hard to open. Once open I almost myself in the pants it had a huge marking on the PCB under that pad zone. It couldn't have been me with the blade, no way I could have done that. That pad zone wasn't flat as it should and I think it might have been intel doing when assembling the IHS at the factory. I just couldn't get my mind in how did that CPU work with that mark... but after all it indeed work when I put it back into the motherboard :O

Delidded my 3770k using CoolLaboratory Liquid Pro.
Just used an exacto blade and som alcohol as lubricant and had the lid off in about 15 minutes or so.
No too hard if you are careful!
Pretty much a 40C drop. I am using it between the IHS and the die as well as teh ihs and the waterblock. 5.1 ghz right now at 1.45V max temp running Wprime is 63C. Intel burn test maxes out at 73 on the hottest core.

What were your temps before ? You should be running 100C for that difference to make sense...
