Flash BIOS with USB BIOS flashback. If that does not help, then RMA the board.

    back to 0402 ?
Just checked the CPU which wouldn't post even with single stick on another Z77 board and it posted fine with both channels.

No flash to the latest BIOS again. Use a FAT32 formatted drive in the USB flash slot, name the file to M5G.CAP (for the Gene) and it will flash after you hold in the button for 3 secs.

If it is still code 55 on those slots and no damaged or bent CPU pins, then possibly some BGA socket damage (excessive calmping pressure used at some point can cause this) or trace pin damage to memory slots. Only other thing, I had something like this was when too much Vaseline was used in the memory slots for sub-zero. Quick going over with the hair dryer and brush sorted it, though.

Will try the FAT32 formatted drive!

The board is brand new from the egg - been having this issue starting with first boot. No Vaseline etc. - I am just using normal air cooling. SLow mode switch was set to "ON" out fo the box - is this the default position?

Board came with 0402 firmware. I tried 3 different sets of memory ( Samsung, PSC and Hynix )

Don't think it is a memory multi - unless it came from the egg "pre-tested"

it was " ON " for me also ,when I opened my MVF box , I turned it off before the install.
    - all went fine except the spd XMP read out's in bios on the 2 x 4 gb tridents X 2400 [f3-2400c10d-8gtx] one reads 2401 other 2399 ,cpu-Z reads the last 2 spd's as [XMP 2289-1143 mhz] [XMP 2000-1000 mhz] ,will look into it closer when I get around to the ram settings ,working on the cpu\win7 reinstall for now.

I have booted the first time with it "on". Maybe that is the root cause of my issues?

    @ Raja

    - Just re-flashed the BIOS to 0502 and on the first post - I put 1 memory stick in Red slot closest to CPU ( like Splave suggested - TY!) and this time I posted properly!!!

Before I wasn't able to use either of the first two slots. However with both sticks in back to 55

    - Reflashed the BIOS a second time - this time put 2 Memory slots in for first post - and was able to make it into BIOS! However about rebooting went back to 55...
