    Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Review

Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Review now live boys and girls.

    No linking to outside sites.

Definitely can see this doing really well in terms of sales. Seems to keep up with some of the big boys, especially in terms of overclocking but for a fraction of the cost. Has a great colour scheme too and has the 3D BIOS implemented.

Quite set on the colour scheme too, seems Gigabyte have taken a lot of time with this board, unlike the first wave of X79 boards that *ehem* flopped

Doesn't look like it as the next model up will be g1sniper3 and the micro tax version.

TBH... average review. No performance comparison point.

BIOS discussion, can OC to 5.2GHz. Benches run faster than at stock. Big deal.

It's funny, I keep saying everytime I do an upgrade that this time I'll try another brand and in the end I always end up getting a Gigabyte board cuz they have never let me down, stable as a rock with good voltage feed (usually lets me use slightly lower voltages for same overclock as the vdroop is usually well under control). Don't like the design this time around though but they stay true to their usual concept, no gimmickness, just core stuff done right.

    That's a bit harsh.

However, some are waiting for Ivy to launch before delving too deep into Z77 review territory.

A comparison review written today here: Has 4 boards, including gb ud5, just mentioned on their cpu which maxes at ~4.6 stable was same on all 4, though they didnt do a max suicide on all 4.

And really not much to that review either, most differences in benchmarks are probably just variability run to run.

Really need, like previously mentioned, Ivy cpu max overclocking + max ram on different boards and see if any difference between them.

It's a 12 page article that tells us absolutely nothing about how Z77/ Gigabyte have improved compared to Z68. I'm standing by my comments

We're not even shown if people upgrading to SB/IB should buy Z77 over a cheaper Z68 board on Ebay.

If the article was "Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H bios review" it would make more sence. Rest of the article doesnt really give you anything at all.

Did you want pictures and feature list? Should have read the first page. It clearly linked to a preview that was done detailing all of that, but maybe that was missed?

For those who missed it maybe - http://www.eteknix.com/reviews/mothe...board-preview/

You said that it should have been a BIOS review, as i assume you was after something more, like pictures? Other than that, the preview delves into that, but what else would you expect from a motherboard review?

Could you give us some more data on overclocking? Voltages / temps?

Right. 'cause performance differences of different boards based on the same chipset are always huge and meaningful.

    Picking some very fast numbers:

    http://hothardware.com/articleimages...onsumption.PNG

    over 20% in power consumption

    http://hothardware.com/articleimages...Z68-LameMT.PNG

    10% in performance

    http://hothardware.com/articleimages...1/Z68-ETQW.PNG

    20% in performance

    http://media.bestofmicro.com/Y/0/307...l/image005.png

    5% in performance

    http://media.bestofmicro.com/Y/7/307...l/image012.png

    10%

    http://media.bestofmicro.com/Y/E/307...l/image019.png

    10% in power consumption

    http://media.bestofmicro.com/O/1/298...l/image021.png

    10%

    http://media.bestofmicro.com/O/3/298...l/image023.png

    Noticeable temperature difference.

Sure, there are plenty of situations where the performance across boards IS very close.... but enough differences to make comparisons worthwhile.
