After several hours trying to install the O.S. without a CD drive I finally gave up and transferred one from another machine. I don't really understand why I couldn't get a bootable USB image to work, but I couldn't. I must have tried a dozen different USB boot programs and could easily boot the machine but the OS would not install properly. Never mind trying to do an install without a USB keyboard, they finally got rid of old PS2 connector on this Mobo. I have a IOgear KVM switch, but for some reason it isn't working properly either. But in the end she is up and running at 4.8Mhz/3.4v/62c.
I really haven't played around much with my 2600k setups and was surprised to see that every program I ran gave me a different CPU voltage reading, many had a delta of .6 volts or more! So I used Asus's voltage readings. She's pulling 186 watts from the wall which is a lot higher than my other two 2600k's running at 4.6Ghz(143w&167w) so I may still play around to see if I can get that down a bit more. I inadvertently OCed the onboard video so maybe that is all I have to adjust.
Setup is:
Core™ i7-2600K Processor
HyperX Genesis 8GB DDR3-1600MHz CL9 Dual Channel Kit (2 x 4GB) w/ Intel XMP
Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Corsair Carbide Series 500R Case, White
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750M Modular Power Supply
Corsair Force Series GT SATA III Solid State Drive, 60GB
Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Motherboard
Asus USB-N53 Dual-Band Wireless N Adapter
Windows 7 Professional x64 (64-bit) SP1 DVD - OEM
I'm up to 47 days on HCC and 15 days on HFCC, all machines have been reverted back to crunching HCC only as it seems there are still a lot of W.U's available, so with a little luck I'll hit my goal of 62 years.
As a side note the price of power in our area has doubled in the last month due to our stupid Government and greedy Utility companies, I don't know how much longer I have on my 5 year contract at 7c a KW/h but hopefully it's enough to get me to my goal as my power bill is already very high when all the surcharges are added in.
