If you get enough extra just set up a RAM disk just for BOINC - offload some workload from the HDD.

I might take you up on that in the near future. If the board i got off ebay for the 2419s works then I will only have 2gb ram so I'll need more.
Like I said, with that arima I rarely saw over 2.5gb usage so 4gb should be just fine.

??? I have a full setup I'm needing to get rid of. I figured if someone was in this thread, either they have one or they want one.

This thread is specifically for the Arima boards that Google once used. Post up your specs I'm sure someone will want it.

Arima 4xOpteron board, 4 8347HE, 8GB PC3200R, XFX 750 Black Edition PSU modified for 12V only. Board is tested and running, the memory is set up to allow for NUMA as well. See, I HAVE an Arima setup to get rid of.

I used a pair metal sheers to cut those plastic cups.

I cut in towards the frame and actually cut that long strip out in several smaller square chunks. Start in one corner that the sheers fit in nicely, make a cut...then move in about 1/2" and make another. Then bend that back and forth or it may just pop right off. Mine just flew off once I had the correct width to make the cuts.

How long you letting it run? It takes a while to POST, like a good 30 sec.

Also, all 4 RAM slots for CPU0 should be populated first, then the 4 for CPU1, etc. Memory should be ECC registered DDR2. PC2-3200 is what I used.

I never got any of the SATA ports near the bottom of the board to function - probably driver thing. The upper 2 work fine.
