I'm kind of interested in C2, but I don't think I can give up this current C1. I tried 3 chips and kept this one that does 5Ghz all day at 1.42v. It'll hit 5.1ghz at 1.44v...but I've had a few crashes at those settings and it takes almost 1.5v to iron it out....far too much for 24/7. So I've settled on 5.0Ghz 24/7.
    .
Unless there is better clocking I'm gonna sit tight on this current C1 methinks.

Same here, still ironing out my 5Ghz 24/7. If the new stepping is really great I might, as I cant buy 3 X's to test out :P I gotta stick with the one I got.

I'm primed and ready to get into a Sandy-E setup but I'm on hold for the CPU purchase. I intend to use (and already have) an Asus X79 Sabertooth for the build. So the real choice is between the 3930K and the 3960X.
My 24/7 goal is acutally pretty low - 4.0 - 4.5 HT enabled. If i can keep SpeedStep and full sleep capabilitiy, that's a plus too.
So in all reality, with gaming being the 'hardest' thing this rig will do, the 3930K is the way to go. But who's going to get it in stock and when is it going to be there?

It seems there just aren't a lot of places to buy a CPU anymore. I don't have a Microcenter close by anymore (6 hour drive to the one in Atlanta) and all the old sites I used don't seem to be there anymore. (Anyone remember Anandtech--I think that was their name)

Gaming load is alot lower than Prime95 loading too.

My Gaming temps is 40-43c where 100% prime95 is 58-60c on my i7-920 OCed with 1.375v

Might want to quailify game loaded stable vs 100% loaded stable

I have 2 3930k's, first one is stable at 4.8ghz 1.386v load, but has a not so great imc. Could not do 2400mhz mem, 5100ish highest bootable on water. I have a feeling because of the poor imc it would not do better on cold, but would be a good 24/7 chip for someone that didnt care about 2400mhz memory.

You need to find a chip that has a good imc, I know you would not be satisfied with 2133.

Right now the home made bench table is a mess. Ill try and post a larger pic.

After 40 starts to suck, I know from experience. We need toys for our bday's now more than ever, to help us forget we are getting old.

Added a new loop for the 7970 the , so everything is a mess ATM. If I want to change cards out, this way I can without a lot of headache. The pump and res are zip tied to the table.

The window unit ac has slowly blistered them paint on the window, so today I took the wooden ghetto bench table apart and got rid of it. I scraped the paint from the window cill and rebuilt the loop again, this time mounted a shelf in front of the ac.

The wife has been pretty awesome to let me do what I want with this room.
