crazy 1.3MB per page load! no wonder Fugger is using so much bandwidth, you can easily reduce that to 1/10th of the size and cut bandwidth usage down by 75-90% easily!

Moves pretty decent here (Europe - Romania) "right now" - but it's late night in North America (around 1:22 - 3:08 AM)... so that doesn't say much - i guess... the activity there being kinda low at this hour. If this was a :banana::banana::banana: site.... things would have been different - obviously.

What would it take to change ISP ? Is it a money issue ? a contract issue ? a mafia issue ? a dial up issue ?

Could we get a donation thread to specifically fix the xtreme slowness ?

To whomever is about to post "it's always super fast for me, yay"... that doesn't help the majority.

It's been slow as heck for me the past few weeks or longer. Loading pages takes longer on XS than any other site or forum that I visit.

Also, the frequent downtime during the day is really a killer. Hasn't Charles ever heard of off-hours maintenance? :P

You need a faster line myt friend. I'm what? 25 miles north of you and only once in a while does XS seem slow here.
As to off hours maintainence, how can he? XS is world wide.

Well after paying attention to the slowdowns I can say it's got to be bandwidth. Off hours are great, no real delays to speak of. Peak hours can see a real delay in response.

Seems to depend on the time of day. Guess XS is just too dam popular Just good to see it's still here I remember the 3 or 4 day? downtime a while back. Started to go into withdrawal.

But yeah, slow here and there, always seems like peak periods. Charles ever mention if he was going to look at a new ISP or something?

With all due respect, how is that XS is the only site slowed by ones connection speed ? Too many users with fast connections have the same problem.

I would recommend moving from Apache2 to nginx. Works darn well with heavy loads and with small cpu-time/memory resources.

I've noticed this when the storage array of my ESXi server is rather slow:
Apache2 pages can take ~1-5 seconds to load while nginx is always instantly loaded
    Same OS and configuration.

[H]ardforums use nginx and it loads lightning fast while there is more users online than here.

I don't know jack about servers but this sounds good.

I just don't get why our forum can't be normal. Why does it take 10 sec to load a page? Why does it double post? Why does it ask me if I want to leave the page when I post? I just want a normal forum
