    Talking PowerColor X800Pro VIVO = X800XT PE

Killed my old PowerColor X800pro trying to mod it. Scraped too hard & totally farked it last nite.

Went out to buy a replacement & it was either the "normal" X800pro or the X800pro VIVO, same price...

Got the VIVO edition, got home, opened, 1.6ns ram.

Took hsf off to whack my waterblock onto it. No lasercut. hmmm

Started my good 'ol Vapo, falshed bios, get into windows & see 16 pipes .

Not only that, I now have one h3ll of an expensive paperweight to remind me not to mod anything myself, get a pro to do my mods for me.

You wouldn't believe how many things I've killed. High-End ... Better quit this before I have to hock my a$$ to support my addiction...

I'm off for some benching action now....

Anyways, enuff of my sob stories, here's a screeie of the AtiTool & my card's id:

Heres a bench of my power color x800pro w/vivo modded to x800xt with a 3200 a64 co stepping and a gigabyte k8n pro mobo. All with stock cooling and no vmods. The card was ran at 540/621.

Hey minnyboy, if you have problems getting your clocks any higher try this method:

    1. Flash the Gigabyte bios with the utility in this file (bios and utility included). This will unlock your 16 pipelines but it seems to lower everyones max overclock. Gigabytes flash utility seems to be the only one that effects the pipelines.
    ( Use this command: GVF11 -P -F R80X256V.F1 )

    2. Next flash the X800 Pro Bios with Flashrom v2.37. This will give you your Original overclock back most likely. It worked for many and you still get 16 pipelines enabled. (Use this command: FLASHROM -P -F 0 (bios name))

    3. Finally, Flash the X800 XT Bios to make your card a full fledge X800XT.
(Use this command: FLASHROM -P -F 0 (bios name))

    Shroomalistic,

Exactly what I did but kinda different.

1.) Flashed to Gigabyte X800XT PE Bios.
2.) Flashed to original X800Pro VIVO bios.
3.) Flashed to ATI X800XT PE bios.

    Same clocks though...

Maybe it already had 16 pipelines but I never gave it the chance.... Flashed it as soon as it was plugged in....

I posted a thread with a poll for X800Pro VIVO to X800XT PE mods. Maybe ppl can vote there to see what the success rates are for the mods & what brands...

Hmm.. Im curious.. why "step 2" and flash to a X800 pro before the XT bios? Why not just flash with the gigabyte bios, and then the ATI X800XT PE bios right away?
    Does it make a differance?

Not sure if it makes a difference, that was just the route most people went and it worked. Some people skipped that step and went strait to the xt bios.

Shroom: Whats the default clocks of the XT bios you're using? Need a 520/560 one.. using a 526/573 now, and cant seem to get Farcry to run stable. (All other games and benchmarks run fine though) :/

damn, I didnt do the last step and lost about 15 MHz off my core speed. I might try the final flash with the Xt BIOS and see if it helps any

In my experience the Gigabyte Bios is as good as any other XT bios, if you want your overclock back, get your pencil out

I used the mods here: Void your warrenty.

Note that he states to use pin 3 on vmem chip, shows pin 5. Since he showed pics of his work, I guess it should be 5. I have it installed but I'm waiting for some silicone to dry and re-routing my pelt hoses so I haven't been able to confirm these yet. I'll follow up later if no one else confirms.

I did the Vmem mod using pin 3...

Looking at the pics at the site you said & comparing them to VRZone's mods, they're one & the same.

I'm thinking you counted both sides of the chip to come up with pin 5 whereas the sites are just using the "pin 3" on one side of the chip.

    What's you Vmem at now??

I'm running my Vgpu at 1.5v & Vmem @ 2.10v & am still stuck at the same mhz as I had before the mods.

I'm thinking bout giving them more volts since both my temp sensor sticking on the GPU & the ATI CP say that the idle temps are 28.5c-30c & 35c-36c under load...

As for the flashing with the G/byte X800XT, then X800Pro, then ATI X800XT & gaining 15mhz... That's just a myth to me as it didn't do squat...

Vmem is at 2.08V, up from 2.0V using a 25k pot at 25k atm. It really is pin 5, you count them counter-clockwise from the marking (dot in this case) on the IC. 3rd from right, yes, but pin #5.

FWIW, with that .08V bump in Vmem, ATI tool still stops at the same mem clock for me as well....the gpu is doing much better, but I put 172W pelt on it. ATITool would crap the core around 530 - 540 before, stopped at 589 last night. Only like 1.43 Vgpu cause the 10k is still 10k. Didn't put the 500k over-curent resistor in, didn't have one handy, might go back and do that later.

edit to add: I had no gains using original bios (after 16 pipes enabled), GB, or XT bios myself, and in all 3 my voltages remained the same. Could be that people gain from the first to the others if their manufacturer defaults lower, or different mem timings, or something, but that's not the case with the Sapphire model any way.
