For Intel's extreme chip, it is just SB + 2 extra cores. It doesn't bring new micro-architecture this time round. The debates would be much much lesser than launch of BD.

to some, AMD maybe is completely failed; but some beg to differ.

His actions are typical of the average marketer create hype to get people to buy his company's product. Accuracy does not matter to a marketer because one can always backtrack.
even if he doesn't know about the market or the product, he need not to promote IPC increase in ANY forums, since people buying server wouldn't look at Cinebench R11.5 or Winrar or x264 benchmarks.

Why would people send hate-mail to JF ? All the time he talks about is about Server side Bulldozer (Opteron) performance , not "FX" Desktop product
He have mentioned uncountable times that he's not handling Desktop section !!

Pretty sad what fanboys did to JF, i guess they had to take out their hate somewhere but venting it out on JF is soo wrong. Such fanboys suk if you like some company you should like it in success and fall like i did with 3Dfx :P

I also had high hopes for BD but it seems this will also play out like Phenom did. Phenom represented a good change in architecture and well inclusion of things which were used in the bases for Nehalem but the execution of design was bad. Phenom 2 corrected the problems and showed the strength, BD seems similar PD will improve on the performance and Win8 in combo would yield a good advance but not a lot, this might be good enough to deal with IVB unlocked processors but not SNB-E or IVB-E.

I am also confused with AMD's AVX performance numbers My friends at server operations say that the design is very good the ideas are wonderful but the process used is neither small enough nor is the size small enough. Thus i think AMD may get higher speeds if they had used a native 6 core with higher speed but what do i know about silicon design i am just a debugging guy :P

Those results are horrible, I get 20 secs flat in pi with the CH V 9905 bios, same for cinebench R10 4104 here 1 thread, CB 11 5.99... His scores are way off. And sorry but 16secs Wprime 32, not even BD is capable of doing that...

Ex-AMD Engineer Explains Bulldozer Fiasco: Lack of Fine Tuning.

Performance that Advanced Micro Devices' eight-core processor demonstrated in real-world applications is far from impressive as the chip barely outperforms competing quad-core central processing units from Intel. The reason why performance of the long-awaited Bulldozer was below expectations is not only because it was late, but because AMD had adopted design techniques that did not allow it tweak performance, according to an ex-AMD engineer.

The problem is that when you work with big companies like AMD the NDA continues even if you doesn't work with the company any more.

The slide showing AMD's roadmap is interesting. They plan to update the core yearly, just like how they're doing it with their GPU sector.

It never happened before during the whole time AMD's been releasing processors, where they stuck to a 2-year release schedule. I'm thinking this is like Fermi, starts off bad (though in bulldozer's case, pretty bad), but may start to pay off after optimizations in the end.

Nice to look forward to new processors each year.

^ So true, though it doesn't matter to me. I upgrade infrequently and every time I do, it's a whole new PC.

Which bios did you use sir ? 9905 gave a good boost over 0083 and 0813, hope to test 9911 soon... Seems the scores in that OC thread are due to non working turbo,... I can't explain them bad cores he listed... asked for a UD5/7 board to compare...

So we get delays every year instead of every two years? Yay.

AMD FX-8150 Black Edition prices already falling
Last weeks released AMD FX processors have gotten quite a bit of attention from the tech press and and end-users in the forums. I was just browsing some price watch engines and it seems that prices are already dropping, quite a bit.

The new 8-core AMD FX-8150 Black Edition can already be spotted for a price as low as 213 EUR. Considering this product launched at 245 EUR 5 days ago, that's quiite a difference....

It has to happen sometime... at 2500K price level these CPUs will sell even more, now when PL drops of the 8120, this can become an interesting value CPU...

Am i the only one that could not care if jfamd has hurt fellings or not? Its so simple, he is not an engineer here out of the goodness of his heart, he gets paid to sell amd, he is in marketing and fooled a lot of people into beliving bd would be awsome. I dont blame him as this is his job people. Marketing=lie , just look at the amd marketing on you tube where they use a 2500k and lie that it is a 980!!

Jf will be back probaly under a new user name at the next product launch, its his job afterall.

considering he's on server not desktop

i wouldn't want to be in his pants tho with all this "WHY BULDOZAR NO PERFORM! hatemail he's getting"

That hatemail is perfectly justified. Instead of blaming the community for it, he should be asking himself WHY. If he doesn't know how to do his work properly, first creating this situation and then failing to handle it, he shouldn't be doing this in the first place.

This is what happens when people from a company post in the web. Francois is another example.

Hatemail is never justified, it just shows what a bunch of spoiled brats those people are. If one should have incentive to creating hatemail it says much about their own weak personality.

If anything JF should be apologizing to the people here for all the delays and the subpar performance. That would be the honorable thing to do. We were promised by AMD very specific increases that we absolutely did not see; if anything he specifically earned all the venting as he is in charge of marketing (regardless of server or desktop, BD doesn't have a 50% increase of thuban at same clocks)

What does he class as hate mail btw? is it just people asking WTF? I think it is fair to ask him why he was so misleading. deffo dont think he should receve abusive emails though.
