CPUs and the ram if the board works.

CPU coolers i can get machined from some alu sinks

the thing that always puts me of a s771 rig is the need for FB-DIMMs

is there such a thing as a dual socket (dual quad capable) s771 mobo that takes either DDR3 or DDR2 (ECC+REG is good - just don't want to pay for darn FB-DIMMs)?

Would this power supply work with the Intel board? I think it has the right plugs, but I'm a little new to system building and wanted to make sure I'm interpreting things right.

Edit: Found a new PS with the same plugs as the one I previously linked, but with a much better reputation; still need advice.

When I tried your link I got a 600w rosewill PS and I wouldn't use that if you gave it to me..LOLOL

I would use it... after I redesigned and rebuilt the circuits inside first

My PSU, 120mm fan, chipset fan, and harddrive came yesterday... Now I just need the weekend to get here so I can have the time to put things together and see what works! (I need to start writing my thesis, so "time" is a relative thing. =/)

and as a note for everyone. i use 140mm lianli fan and just let it sit on the ram, keeps chipset cool to the touch.

Status update.
Got following:
2x SL8WT's
4x 1GB ECC REG 400MHz DDR2s
1x Board that doesn't work...

The board powers on soon as i plug in the power (not a good sign). All diagnostic leds ligth up as amber and there's no vcore.
There isn't physically anything broken (already swapped one burned fet). Also the smaller heatsink gets hot really fast (Pci-e switch?) so it migth also be toast.

Oh well i better start looking for new board and dissassemble this for spare parts.
