    AMD Mobile Roadmap 2012-2013

    Didn't see these here yet:

Good thing they explained the code names too, there's so many it's hard to keep track. I find "Kaveri" rather hilarious in particular considering it means "buddy" in Finnish.

Kaveri is an Indian river, specifically "Deccan" part of India. I like their CPU core codenames- Bulldozer, Piledriver and now Steamroller.

BTW, I dont get how Trinity APU is shown to be in production by Dec 2011. That means AMD is ready with Piledriver. Then why is the desktop part going to be Bulldozer ? Are they looking to follow the Deneb-Thuban line like they did with Ph2 , releasing a new core (albeit modestly upgraded) within 6 months?

id be curious to see how well they optimize piledriver, with BD being their first test ever with CMT, piledriver could be 10% more IPC with a few minor balancing tweaks they overlooked. although the very short turn around time indicates very minor changes, unless we think of BD as being read back in spring and just delayed, then piledriver has about 9 months of extra time to work on it, vs the 4 months it currently looks like.

    It certainly looks that way.
As quoted by LowRun......"So, we are one week past AMD's worst case scenario for BD's availability but they don't feel like communicating about the delay, I suppose AMD must be removed from the reliable sources list for AMD's products launch dates"

So Piledriver based CPUs will get released in Q1 2012? That's earlier than i expected tbh. I wonder if that means Komodo will get released somewhere between Q2 and Q3.
Seems we made our greatest error when we named it at the start
for though we called it "Human Nature" - it was cancer of the heart

Wow, production for Trinity in Jan 2012. Production for AMD usually means shipping. I hope this new CEO sets a new era of being on time with products.

I think those codenames are not important, who knows what Piledriver will be like now? Maybe they're just with or without L3 that cuz have different codename.

If I say original plan has changed that Zambezi have Piledriver cores and have to delay, who would agree with me?

After all the production problems they are having with Llano I dont see Trinity coming out until early-mid summer.

edit: both are 32 nm right?

This Roadmap have been made in July . well maybe they was not expect get more delay with BD, result, Llano will come shorter after BD release.

in mobile market, actually they have only Llano as APU, i can imagine they are a bit in the hurry to release a new APU quickly, and if it is ready, why wait. ( we have allready see it in demo ). A good way to test Piledriver.

This is not a bad deal, Llano use old Phenom cores, and this is really his big problem, too low cpu power.. having something new and be able to test Piledriver with a 2 modules cpu can let them correct what is needed for the Piledriver high end models.

Trinity can replace Llano easier than BD does on the mobile front, financially (ASP) it offers quite a big boost without so much repercussions of old stock and writedowns (Llanos just got instock in China, means pretty high demand from channel, at least) and FS1r2 might be easier to adapt to than we thought.

Let's see what 4 Bobcat cores and a TSMC process boost can get Wichita to. Hopefully the mem controller's dual channel now.

Something fishy is up with all this though. If you look at the bottom of the slide, you'll see it says "Juli", which is when the presentation was given. On the first slide, it says Trinity engineering samples in August. However, AMD already demonstrated a working Trinity laptop in June (http://semiaccurate.com/2011/06/14/a...rinity-laptop/). Why would they say engineering samples in August, when they already had some for weeks when this presentation was made? Am I missing something?
