    my explanation:
the server chips are so awesome that they are using every platter of silicon possible to get those out, since thats where the margins are.*

In ancient times salt was sometimes used as a form of currency. So the more salt you take with something the greater credence you are giving it. If you take a mountain of salt with a rumor it means you are betting a mountain of money that it is true.

And get over the timetables. Hoping and dreaming or getting upset at AMD won't make the chip come any faster and will only make for an unpleasant ~5 weeks on your part. It gets here when it gets here, the only control you have is over your emotional state when it does.

Maybe he's getting one for free or they just blew smoke up his butt

Also even if you go with sandy bridge do you think you'll be disappointed? 2500K is a beast and Ivy Bridge is 6 months away.

is there a reason you havee to be pro intel in everypost you make in an amd thread and anti amd in 90% of them
Accusing dave of being bought off, yea thats going to go over real well. why don't you go post that in the wcg section and see how long it takes before one of them hacks an admin account an banhammers you LOL.

Oh lord. I was making a joke. Maybe you should learn to lighten up instead of being so serious all the time.

I agree. Dave is a good man and no one should question his integrity regarding what he saw. The question is what he saw. If it was those so called "official benchmarks" which show a BD going up against an I5 and a 980X in handbrake and D2 game then what he saw may of looked good but really doesn't tell us much as to how BD will perform.

    Let me answer this;
IF I was given 100 systems I'd say thank you but what I'd post is what I saw with my own eyes.
No one buys me and I mean no one ever.
What I saw did impress me and I think after 15 years in this game and almost 45 years in the workforce I can tell when someone is blowing smoke.
Sure there is marketing. There should be as that is their job.
What you will see from me when the time comes are benches that I performed myself and since you don't know me well I'll say that I'm far from the best of overclockers.
I stay on the conservative side with voltage.
Example, I had I think the first EVGA SR2 board in the US and when I benched it the max voltage I used was 1.45v and why?
X5680's aren't cheap and I couldn't afford to blow a pair of those at over $3500.00 pair.
Also I like to show "real world" numbers that most guys can match.
    Thanks for reading.

Thanks Movieman!! I, for one, am really looking forward to seeing some respected individual's reviews of the product that is headed our way. I am getting one regardless, but it is always nice to see what others are able to do.

Using a game ( Diret 3 ) to compare CPUs is just incomplete and innacurate ( because games don't use much CPU normally ).
I'll better wait for some SuperPI(for monothread), Lame, Cinebench, Prime and ray-tracing render times in both OC and non-OC versions.

Most benches have the possiblility to test 1 or more threads... you don't need SuperPI do that... If you don't like Dirt3 because it isn't representative (which i agree), you shouldn't like superPI.

It would be great to have BD released today...
But the only officially given dates from AMD were 1st half of 2011 from previous presentations,
then in july 2011 it became "in 60-90 days from now". So, officially it is expected in Sep-Oct.

All other dates are from "OBR agency" (Only Bullsh1t Repeating agency)...

I doubt your "threat" of buying intel over AMD if the CPU isn't released by your timeframe is going to do anything. AMD doesn't read this, I don't think most people care which one you get.

Only reason I'm saying something (before you say "ahh but you care otherwise you wouldn't have responded!!!") is you've mentioned this "threat" of buying an intel rig a few times now. So I'm just calling you out on it a little and am telling you to just buy whatever it is you want to buy, nobody here is gonna try to stop you or put up a fight if that's what you're looking for

Time to play admin and earn my pay

Guys, I've been here almost 6 years now and have seen this back and forth between fanboys of both companies
more times than I care to remember..
If you know whats good for you let it go.
No "I have to have the last word"...
Just add something poisitive to the thread or go and find something else to take up your time.
Consider this a polite but firm warning.
    Thanks for reading.
