You've already cut the end out of the PCI-x slot?

so I'm guessing you just had a 24>2*24pin and an 8>2*8pin setup on the PSU to power both??

NKrader mind sharing how much and where you found the heatsinks? i feel a bit dumb to spend as much on heatsinks equal to a mobo+2 cpus+ and RAM.

You can get the motherboard, two CPUs and RAM for less than $27 + postage? The board costs $10 + postage on it's own, so you're saying you can get 2 CPUs and RAM for under $17 posted.

i over exaggerated, but i should've stated excluding shipping. The motherboard is $10, the CPUs linked are also $10 a piece now and I figured another $10 or so for the RAM. So including shipping I cant see it be more than $55-60 shipped?

From the intel site, the heatsinks alone would cost around $37 shipped to California. So i guess 33% of the total build =P.

regardless, this is a pretty cool setup for $100 US, if indeed the $13 heatsinks are the lowest around.

maybe cuz i got some TX3 for $13 apiece that I feel those are a bit pricey, and without a fan to boot. however, as u have mentioned, it seems like a steal when you take into account how specialized they are.

I think the RAM will cost you a little more than $10 (DDR2 400MHZ, ECC, REG and NO substitutions. These boards are fussy about RAM) but for a specialised item you'd usually expect them to add $100 to the base price. Not in this case, thankfully.

I'm using Sossaman rigs for my kid's machines. Since they only play web based flash games and such the onboard video and a $2 USB sound adaptor work just fine.

a quick search on ebay shows there is a few for $10-15 shipped for 2x1GB modules.

If you bought the drive used and it worked for 2 weeks I'd say the seller isn't responsible. It wasn't DOA so I don't see it being his fault.

I could send you an 80GB drive for cost of shipping if you want. Just don't hold me responsible for its lifespan as it's a free item
