Just curious, anybody tested overclocking with and without igp ?That should make a difference (if its totally not a divider thing).
Anyone know how HardwareCanucks managed >300mhz more then the other review sites? Seems like a gap that big couldn't just be a lucky chip.

My guess is that other sites maybe did not pay enough attention to secondary voltages. Or, maybe the fact that we used an ASUS board with the very latest BIOS (0703) helped out.
Either way, keep in mind that I wasn't claiming that these results were stable. I only spent about 30 minutes overclocking this platform, and frankly most of that was from the corner of my eye since I was writing the review at the same time.
I'm going to dive in over the weekend, so maybe I can find out what others were perhaps doing wrong.
I should have mine by Tuesday too. I picked up a 3850 and an M1A75-M Pro. Hopefully it will work well until BD comes out, then it's going to my media center. Just need something that can play basic games without crashing constantly until BD and the next gen GPUs come out. Might need to pick up some better ram to get the most out of it though from the look of it.

Damn I want Llano with unlocked multis and adjustment. I feel ~4.4 is doable but the dividers/bus limit it now.

I tested and I got ~100MHz lower CPU frequency when you OC both the IGP and CPU.
There are big differences in OC from sample to sample, especially with the imature AMD 32nm process. I saw samples in our region ranging from 3.3GHz to 3.7GHz, for sure that one from Hardware Canucks is a very good ES
I heard retails will be better though...

Yikes. I guess we'll have to give it a few days for more samples to get out in the wild. Can't wait for mine personally. I've been waiting for this thing since it came out, might put one in all 3 workstations in my house too if it's as good as it seems like it is, nice path to Trinity too.
Anyone have any more info on ram OCs? I'm not sure what type of ICs my sticks have on them, but they hit 2000 no problem with my Thuban on my old Gigabyte board.

Gaming Performance
As you know, it is the graphics subsystem that determines the performance of the entire platform equipped with pretty high-speed processors in the majority of contemporary games. Therefore, we do our best to make sure that the graphics card is not loaded too heavily during the test session: we select the most CPU-dependent tests and all tests are performed without antialiasing and in far not the highest screen resolutions. In other words, obtained results allow us to analyze not that much the fps rate that can be achieved in systems equipped with contemporary graphics accelerators, but rather how well contemporary processors can cope with gaming workload. Therefore, the results help us determine how the tested CPUs will behave in the nearest future, when new faster graphics card models will be widely available.Processors:

We studied Llano’s performance in two ways. First we tested this processor in a system equipped with a discrete AMD Radeon HD 6970 graphics card. The second part of our test session was dedicated to the performance of Lynx platform as an integrated one. Therefore, in the second part of our tests we didn’t use Radeon HD 6970 any more, but compared the integrated core in our Llano processors with inexpensive graphics accelerators including AMD Radeon HD 5570, HD 6450 and HD 6570.

The point of this little exercise is simply this: as we evaluate GPU performance, we should keep in mind that the Intel IGP is doing less work—less sampling and blending—and thus producing a lower-quality result than the A8's integrated Radeon. The bar charts full of benchmark results won't show you that, but it's real, and it's an important component of overall GPU quality. Also, I should note that texture filtering is just one aspect of graphics image quality. Although we haven't had time to explore it fully, it appears the Intel IGP lacks internal mathematical precision in other respects. Using it, we regularly noticed obvious "screen door" dithering artifacts that weren't visible on the Radeon IGP.
I just don't get why you where trying to mislead, on this forum of all places. It's not like the average person who frequents this forum is a computer noob. Most, if not all, know their onions.
It's also interesting to hear that the intel chip has far lower IQ also. I'm sure this wouldn't have come as a shock to people, but it's good to have some acknowledgement.
As everyone basically knows, if you want to decode/encode on the cheap, the i3 is your man. If you're after 3D, then the llano is not just a man, but a beast.
you think this is a valid comparison? http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards....=559&card2=651 Spec wise? I didn't pick the hd6570 because the the integrated GPU is somewhat slower than a dedicated card if it were to have the same GPU/clocks.

I am considering doing one of these for my secondary build. Right now I have an Athlon II X2 @ 3.0GHz and a 4670. My mother finally wants a new computer after having the same one for about 9 years now. I would be giving her my current secondary and maybe getting an A8 3850 to replace it. I think that APU should give the same performance if not better. I only do light gaming on a 1280x1024 monitor when I am home from college, so I think it can suffice.

I think he has the ability to write chip names and numbers down, in regards to plain English... I am not sure BHD is aware how such complex system of communication works.

back onto topic, I was excited when I got Brazos (the apu, not arms in spanish) and used it as a HTPC/low power pc, I am thrilled to see what its older brother can do in real workl apps
