Can anyone tell me what the best firmware and drivers for the Marvell 9128 SATA III controller is at the moment? I'm going to be installing and running some benchmarks on a Corsair Force 3 120GB and want to make sure I set it up right.
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/marvell.htm
I looked at Station-Drivers and it appears the latest driver version is 1.2.0.1003 WHQL but I'm not sure which one of the firmwares to use.
Now: Asus R4E with Intel i7 IB-E 4930K @ 4.4Ghz, Patriot 2x ( 2x8GB) 2133CL11 @ 2400 CL11-12-12-30-1T-1.64v
Was: Sabertooth x79 and Intel i7 3930k @ 4.8Ghz, G.Skill 1866CL9 1.5v @ 2133 9-11-10-28-1t-1.64v
Galaxy 470 (NVidia 750Mhz/1500Mhz/1730/1.062v)
Corsair Fusion GT 256GB, Crucial C300 256GB SSD Sata III, Seagate 2TB Sata III, Seagate 3TB.
Corsair H80 WC
there is a new version 10.5.0.1034 Rapid Storage Technology for ROM (bios)
it's good or not to update the bios?
how we know what version RST is with the bios?
how to update?
thanks![]()
Sorry for my english

So you say you see better performance just letting Windows install the default AHCI driver than the driver from Marvell? When I run benches I'll try and test both so that I can get an idea what the performance difference is between them.
Can anyone tell me what is the latest firmware from Marvell that I should install? There are three different ones on the Station-Drivers site and I'm not sure which one will work with the 9128 chip.

Has anyone who has installed BIOS 0003 noticed that at idle their CPU temp is 10 to 12 degrees C higher than what it was?
I went from 901 to 0003 on Saturday and just noticed this.
At idle with 901 my CPU temp was around 35 - 36. After I changed to 0003 it is now 46 - 47. BIOS, Speedfan and Aida64 all show this 10 - 12 degree increase.
All my core temps at idle are still what they were with 901 (37 - 42). Under load with OCCT CPU Auto test my CPU temp seems normal (61 - 63), my highest core temp at this load is 77 and that is normal.
Just wondering if anyone who has changed to 0003 has noticed the same increase in CPU temp at idle

I just use the dishwasher, and chuck in my board when I put a load on
I've washed a vid card and the PCB of a phone before, came out ok both times. Also did heat dry them, dont want that staying wet too long.

The last page of this thread is full of win.
On another note, it has been confirmed by Raja that QPI PLL is linked to vIOH, not CPU PLL as ASUS Support previously told us. Check the ASUS official bios thread for a post by spoolsidm.

Is there a problem with running my QPI Link Data Rate at 7244?
Right now I am running at 5919 on the 18 multiplier and I want to jump the multiplier to 22 (7244) to see if I am still stable and to see if it will improve performance any.
The Icrontic Nehalem calculator gives a warning message about instability above 7000. This warning is for the 975, but I figured that it may also apply to the 980X.

I run my QPI link around 7.2ghz with no problems at all. I have stability issues around 7.4ghz.

Should be fine, I run up to as high as the board will allow (~8000)

Thanks Zonso and CryptiK, once I decide on what new BIOS I am going to stick with I am going to give 72XX a try.
