How to shut off computer based on GPU temp?

Was just shocked when I saw that one of my GTX260 hit 95C. I realized that stupid EVGA precision failed on the fan control, when it says 70% fan it's actually doing 35%.

Is there a way to automatically shut off the computer if one of the cards (or CPU) hits over a specified temperature?

When I had issues with fan control I ran both rivatuner and precision at the same time, riva for fans and precision for clocks. A later version of precision fixed the issue.

AIDA64 (formerly Everest) can do it. It's 40 bucks, though.

    free option:

get Real Temp, go into settings and enable alarm temperatures, make the alarm EXE as batch file that has this in it:

    Code:
    shutdown /s /t 0
    should work

another option for he batch file would be

    Code:
    taskkill /F /IM boinc.exe
    Main: i7-930 @ 2.8GHz HT on; 1x GIGABYTE GTX 660 Ti OC 100% GPUGrid
    2nd: i7-920 @ 2.66GHz HT off; 1x EVGA GTX 650 Ti SSC 100% GPUGrid

Now I realized that EVGA precision won't even load under a guest account.

Every time I try to execute the Precision under an account without any admin privileges, it always pops up "Failed to load RTCore64.sys driver!" Then the fan speed will just remain at minimal and my GPU will start burning up.

How do I run Precision under an account without any admin privileges?

use Task Scheduler to start a task to run Precision when that account logs on. You can have the task run as admin/system.

I just looked, you can have the task run at log on for any user or for a specific user, and you can have the task run as any user you choose (including SYSTEM). There is actually a task scheduled for Precision to run at log in for me (must have been scheduled when I checked Run at Startup in Precision). So you may just need to use an admin account to change the task settings to run as an admin account.

School's out and finally got time to give this a run.

It says that my Phenom 940 is not supported.

Searched around and seems like RivaTuner works very well!
