Did anyone else notice that the pcie retention slots on the ECS board are the same as the ones used by ASUS on ROG/M4 series boards?

This Asrock 990FX board is almost identical to theirs 890FX Deluxe5. Only chips swapped I suppose. They should be pin and electrical compatible AFAIK.
Me liking IDE and 2xPCI but I know I'm a little "retro".

dont worry guys, if i got the money i will be the ass hole this time that gets one right away making the rest of us get one im hoping to go all out w/ new cpu mobo ram ssd gpu but got a lot of hardware to get rid of first

the chV loooks great but i think im gonna try to look for something other than asus this time around. the chIV was OK but asus had too many known issues that would always get fixed "as soon as this beta bios gets out of testing" IMO.

Already missing the black pcb + yellow slots contender :\
I'm waiting to see a value giga fx ud5 model

edit: On a side note, I'd like to see Asus losing that awful sb cooler on all sabertooth models. It looks like a plastic part missing from a G.I. Joe toy.

^^ Is that real or a photoshop? And if so, shouldn't it also support SLI? I thought DFI stopped making motherboards.

DFI is dead, Chrono. It's a consequence of regular manufacturers really stepping up their game and including most of what made DFI boards unique.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

Why are they still pushing PCI for. It's getting embarrassing. At-least have some boards with six x16 PCIe slots these all look like budget boards compared to what we've been enjoying on X58 for the past 2 years.

LOL! Nice UT 790FXB-M3eH7. A shame it wasn't released, either late as it was, or with a 890fx as canceled.
Nowadays I guess the closest boards to what used to DFIs spot on price and features are GD65 and UD5s.
