    Another quick question...

I don't have my board yet, but noticed there's a molex connector just above the first PCIe 1x slot. When is the extra power required?
I'll have GTX 570s in SLI and I know that'll load my system above 700w on full load.

I'll probably get a black molex extension cable so I don't ruin the look of the board.

It's SLI or Crossfire, however, whenever there's power headers on a board, plug them in!!!!

We are all friends here, aren't we?
My MB started to exhibit another weird behavior: when I click on Restart or Shutdown, the monitor screen goes black for 6-7 seconds, than normal and this repeats 2-3 times. Shutdown sequence continues in background, but somewhat slower and monitor LED is still green. Finally, computer shuts down. If I restart and shut down it immediately after, everything goes normal.Definitely, my motherboard is going south and will be RMA'd, no question about. My old X48 MB with Q9550 endured way more rude treatment and extreme overclocking, and still perfectly working. This P67 B3 motherboard after a moderate overclocking and a couple of test runs is almost dead. Is this a poor product or a bad luck?

    Paschov,

I see something similar on the 1.6A BIOS. I'm running the board with an 8800GT on my tech station. I never noticed it before when running my 5870 or 6870 on the 1.6 shipping BIOS. However, when I hit shutdown, the screen blinks (turns black) and comes back within a second. It just blinks. I'm running the board at 48x100, 1833 RAM & it's stable. Interesting to see someone else see this behavior.

Second thing, the 1.6A BIOS doesn't report the cpu speed correctly. Instead of reporting the turbo multi, it reports 38xx MHz, where x=numbers that i don't remember. So running at 48x100, gets reported on the first BIOS page as 38xx. The cpu runs at 48x10 in windows and is seen as such in the OS environment. Since it's a beta BIOS, I was kind of looking the other way because the BIOS seems to stable otherwise. Any ideas?

That minor bug is indeed just a quirk in the beta 1.6A UEFI. I can't comment on the other issue as my board is a B2 and doesn't exhibit that behavior at all. All I can suggest is revert to stock settings and see if it does the same thing.

hello guys, i experience following problem and hope you can help me:

    - when "legacy USB" is activated the system boot takes a long time and shows Code "B4". According to the product manual this has to do with "USB hotplug"
    - In UEFI gui my mice (Steelseries Xai) does not work. I can't move the mousepointer at all and have to use my keyboard (Microsoft X4) to make some changes
    - only solution I have found is to disable "legacy USB". Changing the option to "UEFI setup only", "enable" or "auto" results in error Code B4 again and long bootup time.
When legacy USB is "disabled" Windows boots within seconds to the Windows logon. But I can't get into UEFI again... :-/

Is there a problem with my board or is this an UEFI bug that can be fixed with an update? I am using Bios Version 1.7. Thx in advance!

Just the usual things. There is nothing wrong with your mobo.
If you want to use your mouse in UEFI, contact Asrock. There were some mouse types which couldn't work with the UEFI.

It sounds like your board is perfectly fine you are just having some hardware compatibility issues. Firstly, leave legacy support for USB3 devices disabled as that solves half your problems in one go. Theres really no need to have legacy USB3 support enabled anyway unless you are using a USB3 keyboard or something. I've made a note of your mouse not working in the UEFI and will ask the guys if its a compatibility problem or a limitation of the UEFI. Quickest fix: use another mouse

That sounds like the memory controller on your CPU couldn't handle the RAM speed you were using or your memory couldn't handle the speed you were asking of it.

I left the choice up to Asrock with what they wanted to do, they sent me the Z68 Extreme4 so obviously they want their newest board on song first I'll be able to start my tests with the Z68 Extreme4 when my temp gun arrives, when I'm done with testing and let my contacts know my findings we will go from there.

this seems to be an uefi problem. i've disabled legacy usb support for the usb3 ports and simply plugged my mice in it. the keyboard is connected to the usb 2.0 port with legacy support enabled. this works fine. no problems at all... but hopefully there is an uefi update soon that solves this bug!

I'm building up a little list of any minor remaining niggles the P67 Extreme4 has, your problem is in that list

It would be nice to have an option to power on with a key combination (like ctrl+esc or something similar), instead of just "any key" option we currently have.
Ket, can you forward this request to ASRock when you send that list?

I have a little checklist for you to go through. Once I know the answers to these questions we will be able to look at things in more detail

    - Is the mouse connected to a USB2 ports?
    - Turn ON legacy USB support
    - There are several version of the SteelSeries Xai, which specific one do you have?

Everybody is really busy with Computex coming up so once things have settled down a bit again I'll mention your request

    ------------------------------------------------------

On another topic I mentioned about the P67 Extreme4 not always being able to wake from sleep with a high overclock and both myself and one of my contacts have tried really hard to duplicate the problem with UEFI 1.6, 1.64A, and 1.7. We can't so there shouldn't be any problems anymore.

    Yep, lots of combinations were tried. 2 different 2500ks, a 2400 and 2600k. We simply can't duplicate the problem. The only explanations I can come up with if anyone does suffer the problem is;

    1. Your OC may be unstable somewhere, even if stability tests don't pick up any problems. Safest thing is to try sleep at stock settings, if all is well, probably something wrong with the OC.
    2. Early 1155 CPUs (D1s I think) didn't support internal PLL. So if you can't wake from sleep it's probably where your CPU is a D1.

    Phew.. everything I've been doing today I almost forgot. I've done some playing with the P67 Extreme4 and memory speeds. Heres what I got with the following settings;

    vcore: 1.36v
    internal PLL enabled
    vdimm: 1.65v
    VTT: 1.2v

I didn't concentrate on tightening the timings, just seeing what kinda of memry speed could be reached with good memory and a CPU that doesn't have a crap IMC.

So, I guess we can save the taxing of our systems using these stress tests and just test the sleep function for stability. Phew, that's a relief.
