The theoretical maximum of a single PCI-E lane is 640MB/sec, which is above 6.0Gb/sec.
PCIe 2.0 delivers 6 GT/s, but employs an 8b/10b encoding scheme which results in a 20 percent ((10-8)/10) overhead on the raw bit rate, which brings transfer down to about 500MB/s.
640MB/s is not over 6Gb/s, it is exactly 5Gb/s.
Second part is concise explanation of how PCI-E works, how fast and why not as fast as expected.

Got my RE3 back from RMA, time to rejoin the fun comparo with the G1 sniper in the making...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

ok for some reason mem cant run 2:6 divider, getting "uncorrectible hardware error". but 2:8 works fine with default timings.
can this be mem problem ????

Yeah its there, watch upper right corner of BIOS screen when scrolling through the mem timings you'll see it.

Ack, not sure how i typo'd 6gb/sec TWICE in the same post talking about 5gb/sec.

One gigabit is 1 billion bits.
So that's 5,000,000,000 divided by 8 to find the number of bytes/sec. = 625,000,000 bytes per second. there are 1024 bytes per kilobyte, then another 1024 per megabyte, so that equals 596MB/sec at 5Gbit.

Which illustrates what I was really trying to say about how 640mb/sec is above 5Gbit...

I would bet that 5Gb/s is 5*1024^3, but it just might be 5*1000^3 in these modern advertising days. Like 1TB HDD is not 1024^4, but 1000^4 bytes.

    R3E BIOS 130X What Latest versions AiSuite/Turbo V work?

I have had to remove AiSuite, althought before I used the fans controls when it work.

Turbo V EVO works EXCEPT! The CPU multiplier setting. It won't go lower than 25, but when at 200 BClk, you NEED lower.

So if one of you guys solved the BIOS and one of the new Turbo V's please let me know.

    [edit]
FYI: TurboV EVO 1.02.28 doesn't cut it.

i have tried to work out the current issue of the i7 970 (GT) that is
affecting my system and many other people here and im almost 100% done.
after tweaking around with timing tables 1st and 2nd, i found that simply
increasing the "Read to Pre" highlighted in red, removed my cap of 56/57GFlops in Linx when testing for all memory.
on auto anything below 12 was capping my system to low Gflops.
    good luck...

now after you solve your problems with low Gflops, you can help me narrow
out why my system goes back to low Gflops after the 15/16th LinX Pass.
i dont want to say NB Temp as it reaches 61C/63C after the 12/15th pass

    Hello guys,

I have bought myself a licensed version of "StorageCraft ShadowProtect 4 Desktop Edition" as I read on the internet you can use this software to
backup a non RAID install and restore your backup to a RAID setup using the "StorageCraft ShadowProtect Recovery Environment CD" option HIR in
the software without having to reinstall windows.

The question I want to ask is what is the best RAID stripe size to use with two Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB drives in RAID0 and will windows 7 automatically
set the stripe size to the best for me when I create my drive partitions using the windows 7 DVD or would I have to set the stripe size manually?

If I have to set the stripe size manually, what is the best method of doing this and does the stripe size have to be set before createing any drive partitions or after?

    Thanks for responding.

Well, I had to try it, and it seems that Hypers like it more then ...4,72,10,6...
    Maybe we should try ...2,48,8,4...

EDIT: I should have congratulated you on good findings.

Here it is 2-60-8-4 (tRRD-tRFC-tWR-tRTP) set in BIOS, passed MemTest4.20

BTW, I was always wondering why CPU Tweaker shows wrong tWR. Also, tRTP is 4, not 2, as both programs show. Or is it?

    *snip*
I've noticed the same thing. tWR always shows as 12... I have not found any way to tell if the BIOS is not setting correctly, or if CPU-T does not display it correctly.

I've also noticed that tRTP always seems to be = tRRD in CPU-T. Also not sure how to determine if this is correct or not.

I think the only way we can tell is by raw bandwidth.
