I hoped that Windows 7 will manage without the re-install after the board swap,
but it seems the Rampage III BE got too much of an alien DNA so had to do a clean one.

But hey, I always see the cup half-full so this surely won't hurt performance.

Now the question - since I've had to reinstall (and might do again as well) do you think it's worth to upgrade the OS drive?

    I currently have C300 256B

    I was considering:
    1) One more C300 256GB for RAID 0 on SATA III Marvel 9182 (yes it works)
    2) 2x Vertex 3 120GB
    3) 2x Vertex 3 240GB
    4) 2x Crucial M4 256GB

    What do you think?

    Here's what I think:
    1) Lack of TRIM shouldn't hurt me - it's just OS and programs, top 150GB and I can leave it idle from time to time for GC
    2) Will I see real life performance boost? Loading windows (currently 13s), substantially faster game loads? Or is it mostly benchmarks and what I have is fine (albeit not xtreme

As usual - thanks in advance for your opinions!

    Time for performance updates.

    1) Rampage III BE is one fantastic board, OC with it is pure pleasure

    2) Dominators GT runs fine on it - as oppose to the P6X58D-E
No problems with rated 2000MHz @ CL9, they even did 2100MHz!

    3) CPU temps are fantastic. Almost 10C less at full load!

Apparently flow, less blocks releasing heat, new Supreme HF and MX-4 do a good job.

    4) GPUs temps are better - 43C on both at full load @1.15V!

I finally broke 8000 in single card in 3D Mark 11

Nice work bro i was following it for a long time and the only thing that i can say is mind-blowing. For your os drive question C300 is wary good drive has better 4k random read than any new drive except Corsair Force 3. So if you want to upgrade than go but it's pure epeen you not gonna see any difference. I have question. How do you bleed your loop with black tubes? I understand when tube is see-trough you can see the bobbles.

Thanks, I decided to stick with C300, don't car much about HDD benchmarks.

Bleeding is very simple and black tubing doesn't cause any problems - while certainly helps in less chances for the algea to grow.
I run pumps for a few (2-4) hours in which time every 10-15min I gently tilt the whole case in every direction (except the one where pumps would head down, plus in the first hour I'll turn on/off few times.
I'll do it as long as I can hear the air moving while doing that - which is followed quickly by bubbles coming to the res.

Honestly, i would just stick with the C300 too
The C300 is quite fast already and reliability is good too.
The OS writes quite alot to the drive, so i would keep TRIM.

To keep things tidy I'll post the flow comparison on the worklog too.

    Note #1
Every single time the actual flow was different (read much worse) than the predictions in various flow estimators - so although many changes across each revision and the measurements being far from scientific reduces the value of data - the fact of being real life results increases it a bit.

    Note #2
There was no flow degradation over time from version to version due to any sort of gunk in the blocks are algae.
Combination of distilled + PT Nuke + Acetal blocks + Black Primochill tubing + very little chance of reservoir exposure to the sun works very well in that aspect.

    Note #3
Once again - this is far from any scientific measurements and testing, it's just sharing of results in my particular loop - so obviously your mileage may vary

Enough talk - here's the data:

Whenever change occurs between revisions - it's been marked in bold text.
