MSI GTX 560 Ti TwinFrozrII High Temperatures

Just recently received a 560 Ti Twin Frozr II edition and I am a bit alarmed about the temperatures I've been seeing when running Kombustor and other programs. I have good airflow and even with the side panel open the temps are very high.

At 0.987v, 910 / 1820 / 4400 & 60% fanspeed, I'm seeing 66*C running Vantage Performance and 72*C running Kombustor (OpenGL 1280x720). Room temp is 23*C.

Looking at some other reviews of this card, everybody reports max temps in the high 50's and low 60's. I've replaced the TIM with some Ceramique but it did not help temps one bit. At .987v I was expecting much better temps. Is it true that some cores just run hotter than others?

Kombustor is just good for breaking your card and no game will come close to that kind of temps, 72c is even quite low when the 580's hit 85c for normal 24/7 usage. Stop worrying about Kombustor temps.

I'm not, just throwing out some numbers. That's why I also stated 66*C running Vantage. Many other sites that reviewed this card didn't even see high 50's when running Vantage. I've even lowered the vcore from stock and it runs much hotter. I know these temps aren't near the breaking point, just wish they would be better (and closer to many other samples of the TwinFrozr II)..

I have exactly the same card (as you probably saw from my other thread) and i am hitting 72-74c at furmark fullscreen 1920x1080 4x msaa with xtreme burning mode enabled and when gaming around 65-70 c (it depends on the game)

As i can see from this review here the card hits 68c.

Considering i don't have a really good case with really good airflow i think the temps i getting are fine.

Btw the temps i get are from the stock values and considering you overclocked your card i don't notice anything to worry about here. Although i am no expert.

Mine has pretty much similar temperatures. 1v @ 950mhz up to 70-80° unter load..
Default I think it was 60-70°.
Opening the case improves temps by 5° or more for me... I will add an intake fan when I get to it.

Your temps are perfectly fine. Forget about Kombustor and tripe like that, Heaven 2.5 is the way to go with max tessellation and AA and AF. At least your card doesn't have really aggressive fan profiling. My MSI Cyclone 460 powers to 80% fanspeed even when the GPU is low to mid 60s. As a result, its rather loud

Do you have a side fan installed in your antec 300?

If not, that can make a world of difference. 3 120mm intake (2 front, 1 side) and 2 exhaust (140mm and 120mm) should provide minimal positive pressure.

I do not have a side fan on the 300, I mostly have the side panel off. Like I said in the first post, even with the side panel off the temps are quite high. At this point I've pretty much accepted the fact that this card doesn't run high 50's load. Been reading more and more about how this card doesn't run as low as some of the reviews have stated. Sucks because that was one of the main reasons I bought this version. Had the GTX 460 Twin Frozr II before and it ran much cooler. Oh well
