Amd FX 8 core in line with i7 2600k in PCmark Vantage?
And Amd FX 8110/8130p (200-220$ ?) + HD6670 (100$) = i7 2600K (317$)?

Interesting. I really hope so.
How is a 980BE scoring almost 4500 points higher than the 970BE? lol
Ahahahha... well, now we'll start seing the "excitement" of many fanboy's dropping ... It's the natural flow of things"Excitement about the unknown" and then ... " oh ... yeah ... it's good but i thought it would be 2x better! " :P
But my guess is that these chips will be aggressively priced and overclock potential will be really goodSo it's still a great chip... and it will be a good chip for benching :P
Although, that "Vantage results" ... don't say anything to me ... they're using a a Radeon while the SB is a...integrated intel ? :x meh ... no wonder the vantage run sucks ... what kind of comparison ... only if they get insane and that graph shows a "value" overview... and that would be mind blowing meaning that the BD would have a really aggressive pricing ...
If they go that route, they will get the attention of a GREAT percentage of gamers ... and clockers, if the chip ends in being fun to clock :P
At least my attention they will get ...
But then again ... guys... this is relative performance...![]()

Waiting for more results, but, if true, BD doesn't seem to be the monster many fans are awaiting
Hope that's not true![]()
Pcmark Vantage it seems that the number of cores doesn't matter much:
So BD slightly edging out a 2600k sounds good.
Actually, in Pcmark Vantage 2600K is the top performing intel CPU(for some reason),beating even Westmere 6C.This tells me that most of the sub-tests are not fully multithreaded and Vantage prefers faster CPUs(both IPC and clock) over the ones with more slower cores. If FX manages to be in front of 2600K then it's not a bad result at all.
edit: damn,AKM you beat me to it
This also reminds me of this slide:
PCMark TV and movies subtest was listed in above slide, showing around 15% higher score for Zambezi than 950 i7. 950 i7 is around 4% faster than 870 i7 in the table AKM linked in his post(around 7400pts for 950 i7-total score). 15% on top of this is 8500pts or ~7% above 2600K,which fits with the newest PCmark vantage slide from donanimhaber.

Sounds good, but we still have one more month to go, and then we'll hopefully get some actual results.
this thread is about to go into hyperdrive again, lol

a little above westmere if the graph is true ...
If westmere gets less marks than the 2600k and the BD, on that graph, marks a little more than 2600k ... then ... we can expect a little better performance...
But again ... ehehehe ... speculation rules![]()
Oh...your ass is grass and I've got the weed-whacker.
people are crowing on about SB-E but to me the 2600k is like the I5 870. same performance as the low end SB-E just without as many Pic-e lanes and lower channel memory.
so its likely that SB-E will win in absolute performance but most power uses would buy the 2600k/lower SB-E and if bulldozer can compete in that space and overclock well then AMD will be in a much better position then right now.
the high spec of the bulldozer chipset ( 2X 16) might help push it over the edge on the 2600k vs bulldozer, black edition wouldn't hurt either.
peope seem to forget amd has like 10% of the fab capacity of intel and there are much higher margins in the server space, gaining market share there will do AMD much better then gaining consumer space.

itsmydamnation,

Oh...your ass is grass and I've got the weed-whacker.
so far from the little available info and the logical assumptions based on it it seems that the deciding factor for power users will be Zambezi's OC ability since no big difference in performance with the 2600 is to be expected![]()

"Generally speaking, CMOS power consumption is the result of charging and discharging gate capacitors. The charge required to fully charge the gate grows with the voltage; charge times frequency is current. Voltage times current is power. So, as you raise the voltage, the current consumption grows linearly, and the power consumption quadratically, at a fixed frequency. Once you reach the frequency limit of the chip without raising the voltage, further frequency increases are normally proportional to voltage. In other words, once you have to start raising the voltage, power consumption tends to rise with the cube of frequency."

previously, people are talking about single core performance. Now, when rumor suggests that BD is almost equivalent to SB i7-2600k in single core performance then people start to looking forward to SBE (which is having the same micro-architecture but packed with more cores only).
