Synergy - The name of NVIDIAs new graphics switching technology

NVIDIAs answer to LucidLogix Virtu technology will be called Synergy. We just got hold of the information and the support will available to Intel H67 and ofc the new Z68 chipsets. All that is needed is a BIOS and driver update. ETA is not 100% yet, but looks to be well on the way and will probably be ready sometime next month.

More information at the source. (Swedish Google-translated)

I suppose nVidia may have legitimate naming lineage to 'Synergy' from their purchase of Elsa 9-10 years ago.

I am interested in a solution, that will allow a shutdown of the GPU to such a state, where it's fan(s) can be turned off. From what I could understand of the op article (not much ) Synergy does not provide. Although Optimus did. Wonder if it works with AMD APUs too.

Waiting to see what BACON can deliver. (Bus Alive, Chip Off, Now! )

I think it ends up in a stand by mode if that makes sense so still sucks up some juice but less then if it was on but idle (:
