In a way i guess this also explains why they use the dual slot config....to allow spacing between 6800's that close for cooling!

LoL, i'd be happy with just 1 geforce 6800 ultra! but , this should make 3d gaming a very immersive experience.

I loved my old dual 3dfx Voodoo2 SLI running on a celeron 533mhz. Ran Quake like a dream in open GL mode.

    excerpt from another forum:

"geesh, i bet you will get like 77% performance increase with 6800 ultra dual SLI mode. that is extreme gaming at your fingertips. I only wish i had $1000, a PCI express mobo.

According to the preliminary benches, it's hovering around 87% (this came from engineers, not marketing), with some apps easily approaching the 100% mark. Looks like NVIDIA just got serious again "

well of course, you know there are so many people that will spend over a $1000 on graphics alone.

Soooo, MR. Nvidi.... errr, Kanavit, do you think if this revival of old tech with a spin has this much benefit that ATI is going to just sit back and watch?

Or maybe Nvidia just has to vast of resources, and test the Vidcards so much better then ATI, so of course they ARE superior

oh wait, your not going 64 bit. "Not enough software support." And no that would not be an ultimate gaming rig.
Xeons are not for gaming, especially 64 bit Xeons.

It is not the ultimate gameing rig. maybe in your mind but unless you won the lotery i doubt you'll get it. that being the case your post was just pointless, irrelevant, and stupid. besides for others to on.

Here in the USA $1000 is pocket change. Maybe you would have to win the lottery or maybe you are just being an irrational fanboi? Lol I don’t know…. anyway this setup makes perfect sense.

There will be more than one mobo to support this and it would be nice to start out a system with a 6800 ultra and in another year or two you could just pick up another one at a 75% discount with a bridge and double your performance? Now how stupid would that be?

i agree sunburn, $1000 is pocket change, no need to win a lottery to able to afford dual video cards when people here spend that much on a cpu. And for 87% or 100% more performace, i'll buy it, haven't seen many cpu's double performace lately.

i'd like you see how many people here in the us find $1000 as pocket change sunburn. you could build a whole system for that same amount. and all kill3r you seem to be no mroe than 13 years old so how long would it take you to save your allowance for this "pocket change"??

how many more times do i have to say that at the most all you will get in 3dmark is a 25% increase? dont you guys understand, this thing is only usefull when running 1600x1200 and MAX filtering. at 1024x768 with no AA/AF you will hardly notice any difference between this or just a single card.
