You got screwed mate, that white stuff definately doesn't belong there!
The IHS is glued to the PCB with this black stuff along the outline of the PCB, the white stuff must be done by the former owner.

Bring it back to the shop and show them, they should give you a new one.

white stuff doesnt matter, maybe its covering something though, a big scratch or missing smd component?

    core is crushed though:

    no, it's not.
    bad picture.

guy asked before sending it to me if he had to remove the IHS, now I know why....

keep it, or return to sender ?

put the prom on it, and when I removed it, this was the result.
with air, I had +85° stressed, that should rang a bell

I take it you did not buy it as a new one?
Depending on how it OC's you can decide to keep it or return it.

How did it do under the prom?

Try to send it back man for sure if you can, poor chip.
BTW IS 2.8 where majority of the NC's top out at, and what kind of voltage did it take?

I hope it's a trusting shop you know. They might think you did it. 2.8 aint bad for it. Is that in your Prommy??

And morbid's about right on the topping out. 2850 mine tops out @ in my vapo. But only 1.7v.

but imagine sending it back. And getting one that cant get past 2.6.

Good luck with whatever you do though.

Dont even ask where i've been!!!

    Hi Peter,

remounted it with some glue and AS3 on the core but forgot to take pictures.

it still works, but I'm going to return it to sender, only he doesn't reply on my mails.
but I've found a solution for that, remember

have an order for a 3200+ 512kb 2200 mhz, see what this baby can do.
