lol, wow. I kept playing with it and you're right, there is a slight jitter in the mouse pointer. Never noticed it before.
But seriously? All this "ATI DRIVERS SUX0RZ" over that? Really? Sure, maybe it shouldn't happen, but from the way some were talking about it I thought it was a major stuttering or something. If that's the "major" complaint about ATI drivers well I think it's not too bad as I've seen worse before (again, from BOTH sides). And that to be THE reason not to get an ATI card sounds pretty silly to me...
But hey, whatever makes you happy Even if it is blown out of proportion.

Maybe its just me, but I'd rather have a jittery mouse than an exploding graphics card
I think thats because the driver team has changed, or at least a few new driver writers have come in. Don't know the exact details I've just heard a few whispers something along those lines. Eitherway, weather ATI has changed up their driver team or not it seems like somebody has been given a boot up the backside and about time too, with the exception of Cats 11.4 which seem better the last fairly good Catalyst driver I can recall was 10.3/10.4.

The last NVidia card I had was an 8800GT. Since then I have had an HD4870 and an HD5850. I'm very confused by this relentless "omg ATI drivers suck". I don't get it? They are fine.
I had an x800GTO2 once upon a time, and yes ATI's drivers did suck then, FIVE YEARS AGO, which is why I then replaced it with a 6600GT (awesome clocker!). But their drivers are fine now. I have to conclude you people going on about how bad ATI's drivers are must be repeating a very old truth as current fact.

took them some time until they had OK vista drivers (around 6 months) but the current 11.3 is great in every way you lokk at it (new useful IQ settings for 5xxx series; better UI) and most releases from mid 2008-now were pretty good; some better some worse but they made some huge progress from back then

AMD/ATI's drivers still have the stuttering on the top right corner of the screen, while on the desktop in windows 7 64 bit, this has been around since november of 2010, it is now april 2011 and the issue is still here. Below is a link to a post made in Jan of 2011. GTA 4 has issues with crossfire as well. These are the issues i have run into recently with ati's drivers. But i have had no issues with nVidia drivers at all.

The top corner thing is weird I will admit. I will have to test that out when I get home. However, the fact I have to test it after I read about it on a forum kind of shows how trivial of an issue it is, I've never noticed it if it did happen to me.
As for GTA4, that's getting awfully specific to proclaim their drivers are bad. Both camps have bugs and poor scaling if you want to make an argument for it.
My laptop (I know different realm) has an Nvidia 420M on it and I can't play any games that use Punkbuster because a few drivers ago they broke something with their optimus technology which throws a warning with PB. I can't even play Bad Company 2 on my laptop anymore because of their drivers. AT ALL. However im not going to make the statement that their drivers are broke, because I can play pretty much every other game I own on my laptop just fine. Niche case.

Ok just got home, I can't get the corner bug to happen.
I did:
Opened firefox
Maximized window
Cursor to top/right as far as it would go
Moused over min/max buttons
I didn't notice anything. Did I do something different?
I have Cat 11.2 right now. I also have two monitors, however the second one has been disabled for a few days now. I don't usually have it on unless I am coding, since I like my GPU to idle even lower.

Did i hurt your feelings? Look at your sig, and im sure it will be appearent who is a fanboy here. I stated my experience. Before a company goes around claiming superior hardware, they need a hard look at the real facts, i understand its only marketing, but from my point of view, its a pathetic cry for attention. Oh and i own a pair of 6950's, a fanboy i am not, i state facts and my experiences.

@STEvil
Hey dude I know I promised proof by the morning by I ran into a few probs with the os I'm using at the moment, it's to trashed.
I'm allmost done setting up win7 though, I screwed up my manual vga driver install when I was cleaning out the control/video section of the reg, for a clean driver install...
I'll fix it later on, I gotta take off o my cousin's for a few hours.
Anyways I got a save spot in farcry ready to go and ut2004 demo is installed so I should beable to put up some decent screens later on tonight .
What actually happens is you get the max detail with the - bais, and if you enable AF, it blurs all the mip maps, alot, looks horrible.
I'll show ya as soon as I can .
I won't forget.
It's there, it's barely noticeable and probably is intended to work that way, "sticking" to the close button. Even if it is a bug, I wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't look for it intently. If this sort of trivial thing ruins AMD for you then buy Nvidia from now on. It doesn't actually hamper anything, since sliding the cursor naturally across the three buttons is smooth. You can however spend the rest of your day circling the three buttons, spot the lag and curse AMD if you like.
edit:
I think you need to jerk the cursor quickly between the buttons to actually notice it.

oh so i'm a fanboy because i use one of the best midrange cards ever made and the best power/performance card still on the market (together with your 6950s ) and a HTPC card i got for free?
i only state that i don't get it how one can complain over and over again over such a non-issue that's all...
i never posted that this marketing move is a good thing; all i see is 2 pretty much equal cards which have their drawbacks and advantages (stock goes to 590 due to the better cooler; overclock to 6990 due to the vastly superior VRM which is identical to the single card VRM) and AMD being right that 590 isn't the fastest card on the market because both are equal
back to the driver side: i had no unfixable issues at all with catalyst drivers, the quadro nvs drivers on my E6410 and the forceware driver for the 8800gts 512 i used before the 5850 so i call them 100% equal and if there is a bug it's easy to fix it with different settings (the only driver bugs i know is the lighting bug in CSS:Source on de_nuke which is more of an engine bug than a driver bug and fixable with a console command, this mouse corner thing and some HDTV setup issues using VGA on my laptop and my good old 8800gts)
