First finding for UD7 B3, CPUZ 1.56.1, 1.56.2 and 1.57 dont report vcore correctly anymore. Worked fine with B2.

LLC 2 appears to be exactly the same as the B2 board. 1.38v BIOS, 1.408 idle, 1.428v load. Overvolting by 0.05v.

This is at 5Ghz with temps in low 60s. Exact settings that worked for B2 for 5G are fine for B3.

Bios F8 beta series was where people started complaining about vcore instability issues at previous stable settings. F7e was fine, and either f8x or f8f was needing more vcore for some people. But they were claiming that their 3dmark scores shot way up after going to f8f.

My UD5 has seen no such issue, but unlike the UD7's, our B2 bioses had completely broken LLC through the entire series (LLC1 overshot like UD7's LLC2, and LLC2 overshot so much that the comps went +.15v higher then restarted), that was only fixed with F1 of B3. So UD5 users can't do a direct comparison like that.

If someone is brave enough, they can try to crossflash a B2 board with a B3 bios, or a B3 with the tried and true f7e, or f8x, with the spiflash andrea had linked in an X58 thread message, that had the ID check removed (you can find it with a simple search). This was also being debated on the GB forums. It was suggested that flashing a B2 with a B3 bios should work fine (if you can avoid the id check), but no one suggested the *opposite*. So anyone brave or foolish enough to try, make sure you know how to invoke the backup BIOS (lee posted the poweroff/psu/case button trick) or you have a second board handy.
bios F8f needs a notch on vdimm as was solved the overvolting on mem on other bioses but dont need vcore im on it same volts except vdimm

    cheers

While I would love to read through 67+ pages about this board, could I ask everyone's opinion on this board for daily use? I know it's great for benching, but what major bugs are still out there? I'm really thinking about picking one of these up.

Doesnt work m8, I tried 20 times. Tried pressing repeatedly, tried holding it down. Goes into boot menu every time. Either this option has been removed or how you do it is different.

Look good Eldonko. BSOD 124 appears more oftenly on win7SP1. A tad more vcore as well. none of the CPU-Z reads vcore correctly on B3.

Use a PS/2 keyboard for easier key registration.
However, I flashed the backup on my B3 UD5 with a USB (MS sidewinder X4) keyboard, but I had to HOLD alt f12 down right after the CPUID string appeared. Trying to "Tap" it at different points during the sequence didn't seem to do anything. (I wonder how the "Switch primary and backup" by pressing Alt f12 three times, would work...)

    What I did exactly was,
as soon as I saw the "CPUID" 34x100" string appear, I held down Alt and F12 (Alt first then F12 immediately after).
Then the board just "froze" for a moment, instead of showing the hard drives, then it said "press any key to copy MAIN bios to BACKUP bios."
I released the two keys when I realized the board had "stopped" continuing the posting and knew that it was going to invoke the bios copy shortly.

This will be blatantly easy to do with a ps/2 keyboard, though.

Different USB keyboards have different issues with being able to get those keystrokes in that early. Some work, a few won't. Holding down the keys should work for any keyboard that can get into the BIOS by "Del".

    SHIFT + F8.

    Keep "Quick Boot" disabled.

BTW if someone wants to ATTEMPT cross flashing a B2 with a B3 bios (or a B3 with a B2 bios)
You have to use an SPIflash with ID check disabled.
    You can try http://www.mediafire.com/?ztnl3xlwjwd
    or http://g0rbi.000space.com/index.php?id=11
No idea if either version of spiflash is compatible even with a NON crossflashing, but the one on g0rbi should be newer. YMMV.

Pretty sure going from B2 to B3 would work, as long as the B2 stepping info is still there.
B3 to B2 is choose your own adventure land, since the B3 stepping info isn't in a B2 bios, so that's YMMV. And I take NO responsibility for your computer blowing up if it doesn't work. And make sure you have Leegolfd's emergency backup bios invoke method available.

This would be a great experiment for someone about to RMA their board...

Although same settings from the B2 works on the B3 (except for the vcore which needs more now on LLC1), I could not get the same memory performance. I am doing a one-sided test though, just SuperPI 32M.
Have yet to try flashing. Still using the stock BIOS that came withe board.

there does not seem a reason to do this with b3.
no matter how much i tried to bork the bios it never does go to the back up,unlike the b2 board.

No problem here even with Quick Boot Enabled.

But never got the main/backup bios switching working on both B2/3 boards.

Sorry to hear that Mate....but I've never been able to flash back up with B2. Watched Dinos's You Tube video, tried everything and no go. Hope you get it sorted & glad to see there is no difference between board revisions otherwise.

I could have sworn I posted this last night but either way I got the backup BIOS flashed finally. You have to have alt-f12 held in immediately when the board POSTs or it doesnt work. If you are half a second late then you just get boot menu. The B2 I had was no where close to this picky but I got it anyway. Probably just a little inconsistency between boards and how they handle flashing backup.

Thanks stasio Ill try that. ET6 reads vcore ok so it is strange that CPUZ doesnt on B3. It appears that CPUZ reads VTT as vcore. I reported it to Franck.

I have a busy week but hopefully this weekend I can run some sub zero and see how B3 does at top end.

THE BAD : They say gigabytes supply is very short and they serve as purchased so I might be waiting thru april

I would say it is good news yeah. Havent had any boot issues (like with B2) yet either. What matters for many is what happens at the top end for usability. That is one disadvantage the UD7 has vs asus is ease of use when benching. Boot issues and constant bios corruption gets really annoying fast. I hope B3 is better in this regard.

I so agree with you on this Boot issues and constant bios corruption gets really annoying fast. . . On even stable boots she get quirky every 7 boots , and forget about like ram tweaking after setting bios 1 or 2 times, i gotta clear the board or it starts putting random settings from previous boots before , Hopefully after B3 get's out to the public, we get some clear up some of these issues , because truthfully this is the first top giga board i had with bios issues . . Im starting to feel like someone moved from Ati drivers dept to our bios update section at gigabyte lol
