That's the Micron C400, the consumer market drive is the Crucial M4.

Don't know about the prices, they may be close.

It's supposed to be the same drive - Micron for OEMs, Crucial for retail. At least that's how I understand their PR.
Not bad pricing considering current C300 prices.

Same drive, different markets, performance should be the same.

    Release should be very close.
PCMV HDD score is on par with the SF 240GB. (>= 256GB)

Depending on how the C400 pans out, I'm going to be really disappointed that the price difference was only $5 (for the 64GB) and could've waited for a better drive!!!

good news is if i buy some M4 drives I'll be able to re-adjust my allotment much faster next time.. Well at least the computer will boot faster...ok ok ok after waiting on my raid controller to load then the computer will boot much faster...Crap I never shut the computer down! This drive's random performance is worse than intel G2? Will ANY drive coming out, sandforce controller included, give me a better performance or is this 500MB sequential stuff just for show?

Where did you see a benchmark of the C400 / M4 4KB random performance?

    Figures from Micron

PCMV HDD score up to 65K (256-512GB models)

    4K Random read/write 40K/50K (128GB and up, 20K write on the 64GB)
(measured at QD32 from what I've heard)

You'll find it at Microns website

Don't ask me how I initially found it

    Link to Micron
It is not linked from the website but it is located at Microns website.

Thanks for posting that chart, since your link is broken for me.

Interesting, the C400 4KB random read numbers are lower than the C300. The sequentials are higher. It seems like the C400 is not really faster than the C300 overall, but that Micron just tuned the firmware to increase the sequentials a bit, at the cost of lowering the randoms a little.

The 55us latency numbers are interesting, same for read and write. I am skeptical of those numbers, at least for read. If the latencies are 55us for 4KB blocks, that comes to 71 MB/s and 18K IOPS (QD=1), which is hard to believe for 4KB random read QD=1, but seems reasonable for 4KB random write.

The QD=32 value for 4KB random read IOPS, 40K, comes to 156 MB/s. That appears to be significantly better than the other SSDs that use the Marvell controller. 50K IOPS for 4KB random write comes to 195 MB/s, which looks pretty good.

Here is a C400 spec sheet with the same numbers you posted:

    http://www.micron.com/get-document/?documentId=6420

Which can be compared to the C300 spec sheet:

    http://www.micron.com/get-document/?documentId=4934

    which quotes 60K / 45K for read / write 4KB random IOPS.

    Yeah, thats the same document.

The reduced random performance might be due to the 8KB pagesize.

This doesn't look like it will be very competitive with the Vertex 3.
