Thats a bit hard to compare due to the auto fan speed profile, I've been running my voltage at 1.000 for some time already while using the reference EVGA SC speeds, (797core) and its pretty fine. Im not sure how much the 0.088v adds to the heat as well.

Probably gonna try 1.000 @ 850Mhz core next week, highest I tried to OC my card with at stock volts is 900Mhz Core, I dont know how to start or even check for memory stability so I didnt touch it.
ye i mean gpu temp on idle ....
u should try that 1.000v @ 850mhz, but make sure to rise up your mems ,
    800\2000 850\2100 900\2200 --> 950mhz 2300 1ghz \2400

i have to try this too

don't know.... but for sure in my case if i try to run any 3d app at stock voltage (1.000) with 900mhz it crashes

Depending on the time of day and ambient temp in my spot, its between 41 to 45c, looking at MSI ab now the lowest recorded core temp it went down was 41.

How do I exactly test for mem OCing as people said GDDR5 as ECC and will be a bit difficult to overclock and check for stability because it automatically downclocks or is 2400Mhz 100% achievable on most cards?

    this are my vga temps.

to test memory stability , some people suggest to use OCCT, or better crysis bench tool with 50 loops or more, unigine heaven, & co ....

So how would I know if its stable, my performance along 50loops does not degrade coz from what I understand GDDR5 has ECC and auto downclock..

At 1.088 Ive been getting 40 as my min temps at 797core, so Im sure at 1.000 i can get about 37 as well. altho my ambient is pretty high since its summer in a tropical country!

    Nice runs there Cole

Do you have a pic of SS evap mounted on your 580?

I have trial version so just one run. As I said, in any case, that GPU score is not influenced at all by PPU, so just make comparisons on it.

Guys with reference cards and water cooling - if you stick your finger on the back of the card (on the opposite side to the mosfets) is it hot when the card is under full load?

Yeah, and gets much hotter with OC, of course. I use fan, just to be sure it lives long and prosper.

So its watercooled but you have a fan strapped to the back or something?

**EDIT - what are you guys measuring for stock vgpu at the back of the cards? Is what you set in software what you get under load?

On stock volts doing 920 MHz core / 1840 MHz shader totally game/bench stable and have left mem at stock for now.

No, not all the time, just when looking for the edge of stability, to keep secondary heating out of the way.

I haven't measured actual temperature, but by the touch of the fingers I guestimate it's around 70-75°C.

Damn i love this Asus DirectCu II GTX 580. 950MHz 1.125v 2250MHz mem 100% stable on any stress.
Here temps when stressed with Unigine Heaven 2.1. Fan-profile can be seen on left.

Only "minus" comes from stock fan-profila which is way too tame.

I havent seen anyone else post a 1.088 stock VID card yet aside from my self, haha!

I fried the GPU folding for F@H and I dont find it reliable since some WU's only stress the GPU to a certain degree, like some WU's only push my GPU as high as 65c while other WU's can push it to 71.. Games on the other hand can easily make it hit 75c
