If there would be the last Deneb comming out this year it should be 4GHz X4 995 140W.

if it would have been a thuban there would be turbo feature, the one that was on the roadmap for a long time but never showed up. This is just the final stretch of the deneb architecture.

Should be, why would they sell it if it wasn't? My old 940BE is stable above that as well.

    agreed,
nothing wrong with releasing 140W cpus for people who buy 140W motherboards

there are PLENTY of people who dont overclock and buy expensive stuff, mostly because they want fast, and dont want to care about reliability

infact making boards that have 140/160/ or even 200W TDP capable sockets would ensure that if we wanted to overclock our 125W cpu, the board isnt going to blow up. at the same time a 200W cpu will already be running near its limit and offer no real overclocking potential, while selling on a huge margin.

It's an upgrade path if you are already on AMD and didn't want to overclock.

I still have a 940 BE with 8gb of ddr2 memory behind it. I can't tell the difference between it and my 1366 platform for most things.

You are right of course, AMD should just have canceled their production, sold their fabs and lied down to die in 2006 when Intel took the lead, just as Intel should have done when K7 and K8 was released.

I see it as a "why not" release. Maturing process is apparently allowing better yields so what have they got to lose releasing it?

If its priced accordingly, I'll consider buying it for the sheer sake of having the cream of the crop Deneb (or is it Thuban? K10.5 nonetheless) and testing its OC potential. I'm tempted to give 975 BE a chance as it is

I doubt it....Prices of 975BE (just arrived in market) are ~200€ in Greece...With 30€, i can get a 1100T....970BE is ~160€ , so seems much more balanced solution...

I like the amount of choice that this gives the consumer. Intel has a high clocked dual core coming out, AMD has affordable 6 cores that can OC reasonably well, and now a quad that might see 4.5 on air. Depending on what the consumer uses his/her PC for, there are lots of choices now for an affordable $$.

haha this release would be funny to me personally.

My 965 (week 0945) had a 1.4v VID and did exactly 3700 at 1.4v on water. I will guess these things run a 1.275-1.35v VID for the most part, look at how far the process has come.
I would guess guaranteed 4 Ghz < 1.4v on these chips, maybe 4.3-4.5 stable on water with less than 1.525v

    I'm interested to see results.

The 975be is priced at $190 at newegg right now, if this this comes in an replaces it for the price...
It's not gonna be worth it because the 1055t is $180...

    This cpu should be $140/150...
And knock the price of the 955be to $100...
Otherwise it's not worth a darn thing.

Unless you want a cherry picked quad...
In which case.. you can get a 1090t for $200 or less anyways..., $10 diff.

You need to think about single thread to four threads, even with turbo thuban is limited on a full load say 3-4 threads compared to Deneb, also slower CPC for the end user.

3.7 x 4 = 15 over all 4 cores in multithreaded apps assuming perfect scaling
2.8 x 5.9 (CPC lacks a bit) = 16.5 over all 6 cores in multithreaded apps assuming perfect scaling

32% performance increase over a 1055T with no turbo at 1 to 4 cores, about 13% over a 1055T with turbo functioning properly at 1 to 4 cores (1055T at 3.3 Ghz)

Leaving this at a ~$175 price point seems it would be perfectly reasonable considering the price of a 1055T being $180.

Unless you want a cherry picked quad...
In which case.. you can get a 1090t
I didn't make much sense of this statement...
