nice FPS group is known for some good PSUs. But i like my sparkle 1kw gold. I wonder how these will stack up against the sparkle and the AX and the antec TPQ.

Probably not quite as good as TPQ. FSP seems like a budget brand for the most part. At least that's my impression...

I still believe many people who have 1 kW PSUs are WAY overpowered and would do fine with 500 Watt... But bigger is more
Notice any grammar or spelling mistakes? Feel free to correct me! Thanks

I agree That dirty finish looks hideous, I think XFX or BFG did the same thing.

    By the way, if I can run a GTX470, GTX260 and GTS250 with an X6 @ 4.2GHz on a 500w PSU I'll be mighty impressed

And here I was thinking, "Man, I really like that finish!"

Of course beauty is subjective, so what's with you guys saying it's ugly like that's some sort of universal truth?
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

plus everyone knows that some of those pictures were taken with flash on and that would result in pictures that do not reflect the actually look/texture of the object.

Looks bad but gold with 90% efficiency is good, let's see these things under load, I'm guessing bad ripples.. Always been a issue with fop psus..

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

    The Coolest: link fixed.

Yes looks awesome, i must ordered after "unreal" review at dirkvader.de
    just for proof it !
    The final results for :

    1. Place - 65w/104w

vs Seasonic S12II-330w 70w/118w which o wanted buy.

Just a little bit expensive for me 80$ and over powered for my system. But i've got 400w and 5 years warranty+high efficiency.
I hope wasn't high tuned "test sample from FSP".

Next week i will post results with wattmeter vs my old FSP GLN350.

    Thumbs up

    Hi again. Today item arrived.

I did very fast test compare. Only for cpu, because 3dmark 2003,2005 i can't launch. (during some problem with fresh install. Need some patch. )

    System:

    E5200 1620 MHz @1.150v , Load @3375MHz @1.150v
    Gigabyte EG31MF-S2
    Hitachi HDT725050VLA 500GB Sata
    Gigabyte HD4670
    2x 1GB Kingston DDR2 800

    Psu compare:

    Fortron GLN 350w - 80 plus

    Idle E5200-1620MHz @1.150v - 67w
    Load E5200-2500MHz @3.375MHz @ 1.150v - Orthos 2x cpu - 107w

    FSP Aurum 400w - 80 Gold

    Idle 5200-1620MHz @1.150v - 60 w
    Load E5200-2500MHz @3.375Mhz @ 1.150v - Orthos 2x cpu - 97 w

    Conclusion

Fortron GLN 350w FSP Aurum 400w different
    Idle 67w vs 60 w = 7w
    load 107w vs 97 w = 10w

Aurum 400w GOLD experiences. *Only from 1h use*
First loook at this psu you are shocked, you think its some crap
Unconventional manufacturing the exterior with some new add on color. The top is not smooth and don't shine like FSP 350 GLN and many others psu's. Aurum is coarse and flat painted with logo FSP.

Aurum 400w sound is very low, cpu cooler makes the biggest noise. I'm not 100 % sure, if fan in psu was running. I will try later.

Efficiency was good, like i expected GLN 350 lost the battle.

Different at idle was ~7w nearly to compare Seasonic S12II-330 with GLN350. At load jump to ~10w. Here i expected more (14w-15w) because vs S12II-330 was 14w.

Dirkvader new review was added, Seasonic X400-FL lost the battle too.

If you plain buy new high efficiency psu with GOLD specification, than is FSP Aurum your choice. For 80$ with 5 years warranty you can't do wrong.
You just need to accept the color and new age look.
