enroscado--> I would be happy if you could do that. compare them at stock, then oc x800 to same clock as stock x800xt. and finally stock x800xt and then raise the clock on x800 to max to see if x800 can catch the x800xt or if the 4 extra pipes are to much for the x800 to handle

a stock x800 pro gets ~200 in nature while the xt gets ~260. an oced x800 pro to xt speeds seems to get ~245. Its proven that the ram bandwith makes a bigger difference than the core, that much I know If you get good ram clocks on the x800 pro, itll do nicely against the xt

    Ok, it's done.

    X800 Pro Default

    X800 Pro @ XT Clocks

    X800 XT Default

Dynamic Compare of the 3 projects above

NOTE: There was VERY minimal artifacting with the Pro at XT clocks during GT3 and GT4.

Opinions and requests wellcome until late evening today (i'm selling the Pro ).

EDIT: I forgot, the benchmarks were under the EXACT same conditions.

Ok, veeery sad news. My X800 XT doesn't work anymore. It displays the message "Not connected to the power source, bla bla......".
I've even tried it in two more computers, but no-go.
Any ideas? Or RMA (for-ever) time??

Thanks for doing the testing enroscado, is was very useful information Although the Pro version can't keep up with the XT, it came close enough to justify me purchasing the Pro and leaving the XT for the big dogs

Sorry to hear of your loose so soon Hope you get it sorted and its not dead. Ive never seen that message, sorry i can't be of some kind of help.

Thanks for the support. It's deffinitely dead, i just don't know what the he*l happened.
Now i have to try to RMA it, but it's going to be difficult, because i bought it in the US, but i live in Argentina.

This might be a dumb suggestion ... but what about comparing the Pro with and without the XT BIOS (at the same clocks), also the XT with the XT BIOS and the PRO BIOS (again at the same clocks).

Since the XT BIOS typically allows a pro card to get higher mem overclocks it must have relaxed the ram timings. So sticking a Pro BIOS into an XT with the tighter timings may improve the score.

    What do ya think?

AFAIK Sapphire's X800 Pro Vivo need just a BIOS flash and you're good to go.

Also, there's a thread that answers your question in this forum.

    There: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...threadid=36743

so it looks like GT2 and GT3 suffered the most from the absent 4 pipelines that the xt had over the pro. interesting

not surprisingly GT1 suffered the least

wow man sorry to hear about your XT dying...

but i do see in lots of reviews that the XT runs extremely hot (some people report 80c)

so that is something you might want to think about
    ~halo~
