We have new official UEFI releases for the P8P67 Standard/Pro/EVO/Deluxe/Sabertooth boards today. You will not be able to roll back to an older UEFI after this update as it contains new firmware and B3 stepping compatibility

What are the idling temps for you at 1.6GHz and 4.5GHz?
BTW, how much time does the chip stay at full speed when it's not stressed anymore?

Is there no stability issue with constant changes in freq and voltage like this?
Does the chip goes back to lower voltage at 1.6GHz?

I've tested a bit more.
If you leave the C-state's at default/auto (with new BIOSes, 1302+), then you can choose between 1600MHz or Turbo-speed in w7 by changing the Power Options.
The good part, You can change to High Performance or Balanced, anytime . In this way you can experiment and see what works best for you too.
This is with BIOS 1305, and all C-state's on auto/default:

Power Option= Balanced, it Idles @1600MHz and uses ~10w, even with manual vCore=1.28v Idle:

You could probably even tune it further by tweaking the 'minimum processor state' option in the advanced settings of a given power plan. Can anyone test and see if this works? It'd be great if it did, as you could choose idle clocks freely with it.

Doesn't seem to chance anything for me with bios 1305. Multiplier stays at 16 with both balanced and performance until the CPU gets under load. Even tweaking the mimimum processor state didn't chance anything. All the C settings are set to auto.

If you want him allways at the max speed just disable C states and SpeedStep on bios

The good part, You can change to High Performance or Balanced, anytime .

The M4E allows this also.

^^ Good to hear. I guess several MB's are going to allow that with evolving BIOSes, better power management.

Just a little 30-min Prime run for checking out BIOS 1305. So far so good.
The load-vCore is dropping more with manual vCore and LLC=Ultra.
Not much more tho, it was on the limit already, but enough to bring it down to 1.264v (vs 1.272v for earlier BIOSes, with the same 1.280v BIOS set).

I went for 1305, thought they might fix some mem problems I was having, but it didn't they became even worst... And now I'm stuck at "Image outdated" problem I'm a bit sad with ASUS, I might should have sticked with giga...

if u read the thread from sin0822 about the giga´s i think u will not be too bad with the asus.. the have also problems to bring out a good bios for p67 chipset.. i know the "flash back problem" but overall the asus is more stable @all i think

Yep that worked fine, just strange the changing of power settings didn't.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, page 20, it can be possible to rollback.

Let me know if you want to risk it.


EDIT: Looks like the new B3 stepping boards will be available shortly.

As a precaution please do not try to downgrade from the B3 (Rev 3.0) boards using a B2 stepping BIOS (pre 1305) until (in)compatibility can be ascertained.

Okay, as stated a few pages back you'll need a modified older BIOS. I have made a modded 0804 for you and have tested it on my own system. I'll send a link through PM.

This is just for the EVO. If somethings not clear or you can think of a better way of explaining let me know.

1. If you haven't already, download BUPDATER version 1.22, make something to boot real DOS and make sure you have backed up your BIOS.

2. Enter BIOS, select F5 and load optimized settings. Save and exit F10. If you want to be ultra cautious you could check stability, in particular RAM using optimized defaults.

2. Reboot to real DOS and run "BUPDATER /pc /g".

3. Select 0804EV2.ROM and yes to flash. Note that if you select and read a valid ROM image and decide not to go ahead the /pc switch seems to do something anyway and you will probably need to go into the EFI BIOS again and save your settings. Seems like a bug in BUPDATER for it to do that. It may post with "press F1 to enter setup" after detecting improper BIOS settings however if you have "ignore F1" set in the BIOS then it will try to boot with the improper settings so make sure you hit the delete key and get into the BIOS setup before trying to run your OS regardless and save your BIOS settings after checking to be safe.

4. Once you have successfully flashed the modded 0804 image 0804EV2.ROM you can go into the BIOS setup and flash any of the other BIOS images up to 1305 using EzFlash. If you want to use 0804 you can flash over the modded one with the original 0804 to keep things straight if you wish.

0804EV2.ROM will only work for images upto and including hardware version 2. If some time later Asus does another hardware version increment then a newer modified 0804 image would have to be made.

Has anyone had this happen:

I have one sata drive attached to a gray port. That's it for drives. The computer restarted at some point today when I wasn't home (I forgot to untick "automatically restart" in the start/recovery properties) and now the bios doesn't see the drive.

I turned off power at the psu for few seconds, then back on. Booted to bios and the drive shows up again. F10/reboot, then it'll get to windows.

Memory passes a couple passes of memtest 4.20, cpu overclock passes an hour of LinX.

This is on P8P67 Pro, Windows 7 (did it before SP-1, and after SP-1), bios 1204, 100 x 47, 1.35 vcore.

Any ideas?

I've had this issue from day one! Its my SSD that goes missing. I have to go into boot and re-prioritize(sp) it all the time. RPITA
