    Bah!

It's not even there in the real program, just the video. Looks like a lot more options in the video actually, so either there is a hidden advanced mode, or those options only show up on Intel boards?

It also shows my CPU bouncing from 5Ghz to 7.28Ghz

Reading the release notes (older board not P67) the older versions worked with XP & needed SP2 apparently.. & it also need’s some Intel control centre thingy... not sure if this is the management thing or something else.

    Quick.... hit validate

Well I was trying on SP3, but I didn't install the control ceneter (That's offered as part of the RST package during install)

Ya, if there was validate in there for CPU-z I could get 7.xxGhz easy I'll show you a screenie in a sec, with the lacking voltage options.

    Here ya go, 7.27Ghzzz (Couldn't catch the 7.33 )

I also installed control center too, in case that was why no internal PLL, no luck

And yes, those are the only voltage options in all sections with voltages.

Do you have a retail CPU or is it ES? maybe this is why Int PLL is not shown, maybe its the bios..... clutching at straws.

I think it was the DX58SO that 1st had v2.0 of the XTU & it needed a new/special bios, desktop control centre & probably some other stuff to run.... I never had the smackover so no idea how good XTU was but maybe these things will get worked out for non Intel boards or maybe they are just Intel treats & the rest of us can...... you get the point.

It's retail I've borrowed for testing comparison, so that isn't it

I do have ES D2 though, I'll try later with it and see, maybe get lucky that way? Haha

I bet it's gonna be Intel only for the PLL unless Gigabyte can somehow enable it, I'd assume not or they probably would have for the initial release.

I'm gonna give the Intel version a look, I see QPI and uncore in some of the config XML files but this is made for P67 so maybe we just need to find the right line to enable in the config files.

Well, exact same checksum for both, so that isn't going to help any

Maybe but GB don’t look like they are going to officially support INT PLL in there official bios's so maybe they are not too fussed about making it work for the official release if indeed they needed to do anything to make it work in the first place.

The voltage monitoring or lack of may be something to do with the problems CPU-Z SYS Monitor etc experienced. I tried getting info from the ITE chip figuring I could use a custom background & ini on the GB like I used to on DFI boards but couldn’t find/get the software to work properly. Looks to me developers had a hard time integrating with the ITE chip & how GB use it to get info beats me....

Ya that could be what's going on, however see my above edits, I think it just may apply to the Intel boards only because Gigabyte has not edited the Intel installer at all.

Custom background? What are you talking about, for the black color of the app or what? I see a blue theme in there

    OK, I'm done playing

It detects Ram voltage as MCH

    7.44Gigahurtzzzz

No PLL for us at least for now anyway

I'm gonna see if I can find some more videos and see what that was actually showing as in use at the time

    *Edit*

OK, after looking at the video again closer I see PLL setting is only enable/disable (around the 1 min. mark), that slider he is playing with is right above it and is for CPU core current limits.

So even if we had the setting, it would be of no use anyway.

Ye I just checked the versions both the same!!! don’t know where I was looking this morning but they were different.

With regards to the lack of voltage readings I was just rambling about trying to use Smartguardian... ITE's application to monitor voltages temps etc & failing to get believable readings like early versions of HW Monitor CPU-Z etc. Maybe this is why the Intel app isnt showing much. If I could have got it working I could have made a custom GB skin or something as a sidebar rather than using ET as it’s huge.

This application is from November 2010 (Intel release 04.Jan 11).
I really don't know why GB put this on they utility list.

Gigabyte and latest Intel download have the exact same file in them though, even same checksum.

Or you mean Intel made it in November, and Gigabyte had it available since then but jus tnow posted it, and Intel just posted on the 4th of Jan?

Think I've found a small bug with F6d, anyone able to confirm deny?

IDE mode, power on, see post screen, hit del once, thingy at bottom of screen changes to "preparing to enter bios" & it goes into bios.

AHCI mode, power on, see post screen, hit del, thingy at bottom of screen don’t change, hit del a few more times still no change but gets into bios & hangs. Hit del only once & it will go in & work fine apart from not telling you its going to go in when you hit del.

    No problem with F5x.

    =======

Anyone able to run 2133 7.9.7 ? If so can you find any benefits over 7.10.7?

I got 2133 7.9.7 running 32m now.... no better time over 7.10.7 for me but small latency boost, maybe the ram is unable to give me more maybe I'm just not good enough

2 or 3 main things that helped were a combination of PCH & VDimm, too much or little of either fails 32M half way. I am using 1.12 PCH & 1.62 VDimm.

Auto subs worked to get into windows but I found the only things that helped make 7.9.7 run better over my tighter 7.10.7 settings were trrd = 8, tfaw = auto, twl = 8

I used memory slots 1 & 3 here but 2 & 4 work just as well. I also used Server 2003 to get things going as I find it more stable when playing with RAM. Now I'm happy 7.9.7 runs I have switched back to W7 64-Bit.

Ive had that same problem happen to me a few times but I was using IDE mode, cant remember if it did it with any other bios. I dont have any 7-9-7 runs to compare but I have been able to run 6-9-6 with my gskills. I believe the only difference between these runs was just the timings being tighter main and subs.

    7-10-7

    6-9-6

    another 6-9-6

Thanks nice to know its not just me, its no biggie but I hate it when the newer bios's break something that worked fine before!

Well your 6.9.6 run kind of answers my question anyway... there is a performance boost Pi wise at least running under 7.10.7 with the PSC sticks. I can maybe get 1 second or so better than 7.10.7 @ 5GHz any tighter & my OCZ's get a bit touchy & unless you get things spot on services etc start craping in W7 so I think they are maxed.

Whats the part number of your skills.... are they these ones

I'll grab a set somewhen they look great.

I do not understand why there is still no new BIOS for UD5.
Do Giga-Byte forgot about this board?
I have lots of problems with version f6x. Also, those listed above.

Beats me but to be fair F5x is 100% perfect for me.

Why dont you list out your problems so the GB boys can see & maybe suggest a fix etc.

As far as I know there was no F6x bios.... do you mean F5x?

BTW I caved & ordered the GSkill 2133 8.9.8 kit.... was only £8 more than the 7.10.7 kit, hope it runs as well as Hoss331's kit with the lower latency.

The kit im using now is the F3-17000CL7D-4GBXHD 7-10-7 kit but I have F3-17000CL8D-4GBXMD 8-9-8 kit showing up tomorrow, hopefully they clock well since they were $20 more. I also have a set of super talent 2000 C7 hypers but I could never get them to run well on 1:8 with this setup.

Also is anybody else still having problems with AHCI mode on F6d? Sometimes it will boot up ok with ahci but other times it will just freeze up shortly after post, right after it says "detecting ide drives".

    I mean bios's: f6a, F6b, f6c, f6d.
Sometimes, after overclocking my computer is in continuous reboot loop. I have to clear cmos.
After a reboot the motherboard displays "checksum error ..." and restores the bios from backup.
Sometimes I can't get access to the Bios setup.

I noticed that bios's without Internall pll are more stable but overclocking is limited.

Flash the backup BIOS to match the main bios, by pressing alt-f12 (quickly) as soon as POST starts, and that will eliminate checksum errors.
