Hey guys,
I just received two quad socket servers with Opteron 6172 in them. Boinc only see 32 cores, and the other 16 is idle while running. What to do?

This link should take you to the right spot, otherwise...
Log in at www.worldcommunitygrid.org and navigate to the below page. Note the section for setting the maximum number of cores to use
Sorry for the big picture.

Thanks! I just changed it to 48. Then restarted the manager, but it ain't working yet. Can I force the manager to download the new configuration?
I think you should just update WCG from the projects tab.
Cruncher #1: EVGA Z68 FTW | i7-2600k @ 4.5 | 6GB Ram
Cruncher #2: Supermicro Dual-Socket | 2 x 6-core Opterons | 4GB Ram
Cruncher #3: 8-core Xserve 1,1
T400 for non-crunching
"But don't think you'll run me over - It's, ah, planting season here in Texas... and the farm is growing..." -Otis11 on crunching WCG
pics or it didnt happen...
for the glory of bardob!
Also make sure you are using the web-based settings , not the local boinc settings.
Web-based settings - If you wish to use the settings on your My Grid page, on the BOINC manager, go to Advanced, then Preferences. In the upper right-hand corner, hit Clear. BOINC will then use your web-based settings. (see pics below)

Changes made this way are not always immediate in my experience but the next time the rig connects to the project all will be revealed

My Biggest Fear Is When I die, My Wife Sells All My Stuff For What I Told Her I Paid For It.79 SB threads and 32 IB Threads across 4 rigs 111 threads Crunching!!
Count down till Movieman in ..... 10, 9, 8 ....
congrats - nice server *drool*
Hmm, i cleared configuration, but still only 32cores in use.![]()
It won't work with more than 32 cores until you mail the computer to me for troubleshooting. I anticipate troubleshooting will take only 2-4 years. My home address is.....
Don't you need to re-run the cpu benchmark in boinc for it to see all the cores ???
That's friggin awesome.
You might need to contact WCG techs to see what they say.
How much RAM is that? I'm speechless...Wow, just wow!

I think you should reinstall BOINC.
My points decreased when I went from a 965 at 4x3.5GHz to a 1055T at 6x3.5GHz As per my last post in the thread, reinstalling worked.

in your BOINC manager window in the bottom right corner what does it say?
you will have to resize the window in your remote login connection so that you can see
if it says 'Connected to localhost (XXXXX)' then you need to change that to web-based
and hopefully someone will tell you how to do that cuz i dont know
48 cores in Linux will probably take a kernel recompile is most distros, but once that's done![]()
