yeh they are both good boards i like asus but got the ud7 as max not available then, i'm really happy with the sandy lets hope you get lucky with a good cpu with the sandies its all about the frequency wall rather than overclocking skill we have acquired over the years mike , first sandy i had needed a lot of vcore but it died, 2nd one which iam using runs warm but does not need a lot of vcore 1.4v (1.38) under load linx stable 5ghz and the replacement cpu was crap wouldn't hold 5ghz stable so its a bit of a lottery with cpu's

Well, hopefully I get a good one right out the door, would love to get somewhere between 4.8 + 5.0ghz 24/7 if poss. When I first went skt 1366 I went through ALOT of 920's to find a really good one LOL! Hopefully im lucky enough not to have to go through that again!

yeh mike the batch codes mmean nothing with these sandies same batch code i have one needed 1.65++ to run 5300+ mhz and this one needs 1.5 , accordingly the c batch ones are better, i only have 4gb of ram in the sandy setup and with the shear processor speed its plenty so might be worth keeping 2 sticks of your existing ram mate , to save you a few quid ,

Interesting about the batches not really having any consitency... guess it really is luck of the draw this time. Ive been considering keeping the ram actually as I can always grab another 4gb dom GT kit at some point if I need to bump up to 8gb, just wasnt sure how the IMC on sandy does with 4 sticks?

i don't know with 4 sticks but i have ram t=rated at 1.65volt not really sandy ram and it'll run all day long at 2133 at 7-10-7-26 at lowish volts 1.6 , so personally i'd keep your ram as its good , i have a matrix orbital lcd display on my comp shows ram load and its never got close to using the 4gb , the sandy bridge is first thing i have bought as upgrade since 2009

I would disagree with you. It's not the same. UD7 dedicates the direct PCI-e lines to the CPU for the graphics cards only. MIVE shares them with Marvell9182 and the two NEC USB3.0 controllers.

So does that mean it only runs dual card SLI in 8x 8x mode then, despite the NF200 chipset? Not that it matters now, ive ordered one and its on the truck for delivery monday! LOL!

owikh84 - thanks for posting those results. Looks like it can handle 4 dimms pretty well

Single card (PCIe slot 1) - x16 speed

Dual cards (PCIe slots 1 and 3) - x8 speed but no added latency from NF200

Triple cards (PCIe slots 1, 2 and 4) - PCIe slot 1 at x8 speed and PCIe slots 2, 4 (through NF 200) at x16 speeds

Fair enough... does seem strange to add an NF200 chip and not use it for dual card SLI, although im guessing they factored in the latency and decided better performance comes from using 8x 8x native than 16x 16x NF200.

I can do 54X100 (NO change to BCLK) at 1.48v in BIOS (1.50 in CPU-Z). I think alot of 2600K are around those values, and the Maximus IV is helping alot here. Don't like playing with BCLK.

So my 2600K can do all those different settings (stability tests all passed). It can help others know what to aim for.

    -5.4 (54x100) @ 1.48v (1.50v in CPU-Z)
    -5.1 (51x100) @ 1.42v (1.44v in CPU-Z)
    -5.0 (50X100) @ 1.38v
    -4.9 (49x100) @ 1.34v
    -4.8 on stock voltage (1.256v)

I have finished my Maximus IV Extreme build...Flipped the switch yesterday and...all was great.....except one issue.

The Revodrive X2 that I have in the bottom PCIe 4x slot is only running at half speed (400MB read in ATTO) vs the advertised (740MB Read). Will not be back in town until Friday SO I will have to wait to start overclocking this beast until then, but was hoping someone might have some ideas why it is only running at half speed...I have been trying to think what the cause might be:

    1.) PCIe Lanes are maxed??
2.) Bios issue with bandwidth in the 4x slot..

When I get back on Friday I plan on switching off a couple of the 580's to see if the Revodrive speeds up...that might tell me if it is a PCIe saturation issue...If not it might be a bios issue...I was also thinking of removing the Sound card from the 1x slot to see if that has any effect.

    Thanks,

    -M
