Im deciding to switch my 580 for one of this babies.
The things:
1. Core i7 2600k@4.5 HTon 1.28v Corsair H50 cooling
2. Asus Maximus IV Extreme B3 [bios-1303]
3. 2xPalit GTX570 Sonic @ stock clocks[SLi]
4. Tagan PipeRock 800W
5. 8Gb(2x4Gb) G.Skill RipjawsX Red 1866MHz 9-10-10-27, 1.65v.
6. Raidmax Platinum Case
7. SSD Intel G2 80Gb + 1Tb WD 7200
What's the point, any card would choke and get unplayable framerates.

This doesn't have the gtx 580 but the cards are already choking with no AA. What the point of testing and getting unplayable framerates.
In addition, AA I thought wasn't really that needed when you are using such a high resolution.
I think when your dealing with 2560*1600, the ideal solution is to have SLI or CF because when your spending that much on videocards(700+) I can see it, but 500 dollars is pretty decent away from 1200 dollars of such monitors.
Core i7 920@ 4.66ghz(H2O)
6gb OCZ platinum
4870x2 + 4890 in Trifire
2*640 WD Blacks
750GB Seagate.
Maybe its just me but;
1. Only 1920 res?
2. Why no AA/AF?
3. I like the look of the Gainward card more
4. I'll give credit to HH that they actually used Enthusiast settings in Crysis Warhead. Other reviews seem to conveniently forget Warhead has that option, only sticking to the Gamer settings then trying to accuse the engine of being outdated
FPS is kinda low, but most of those cards aren't what I would call choking. Choking > slideshow-like. HD6870 and up get ok scores, and even the GTX470 and 460 while struggling would weigh in with a a respectable result if they were overclocked.

I don't know about that. I get 60 FPS in the Metro benchmark at 13 mega-pixel with my 3x 3GB 580 setup:

One question for you guys ...
is it just me or the overclock was nothing ground shacking? Weren't you expecting something more from the new VRM's ?
Oh...your ass is grass and I've got the weed-whacker.
It depends, if he uses 2560x1600 with lots of AA/AF or better yet multimonitor it makes sence as you run out of memory fast if you are a eyecandyjunkie. Look at Vegas result for 580 stock and the 3GB.
Lower rez then he would be better of with the ASUS card that in this test runs a tad cooler and OC a tad higher(draw of luck), nothing big in temp IC diamond can fix on Palit/Gainward thou.

this review isn't fair, just as others have stated above, no AF/AA 2560x1600?

Newegg now has the Asus GTX 580 DCII for a few bucks less than the stock asus model... I ordered me one. Kind of a strange price, thinking maybe it's wrong but hoping it's not.
