    New way to bench

I went to the XS party in Vega,s when I saw on the Fugger's table a PCIex 16, and went after one.
It's great because you do not need to be concerned about VGA condensation on the motherboard and makes the benchmark more fun.
I took today that I had sold my 990x and bought a 980X, to use about 15 liters of nitrogen that was left, I opted for XP and 3DMark06, so I could test the CPU and video card with the Extender at the same time.

The result was fine for only one benchmark

Waiting for a new charge of LN2 to test another benchs.

    Best regards for all

yea that is what i am wondering the PCI-E signal loss. But then you think about very long boards like the UD9 and the ROG Xpander that increase the distance up to almost a foot, so a 9 inch extender might work ok in the first or third slot....

Either way that is a new way to bench, i am going to try to find myself two.

All i could find is this and its not long enough or shielded like that one. http://www.camera2000.com/en/pci-exp...ble-1u-2u.html

Problems might be power related, could try adding supplemental power connectors to the back of the extender cable where it plugs into the GPU.

    Very nice idea mate!

We tested such a extender some month ago an run into problems.
It seems we have to test another and better shielded one....

    Nice result!

    Thanks for all
I don t know if i can get best result without the extender...i need to test to know if i losed a lit bit of signal...
But i am sure hight quality to a extender is needed....
Is possible i can reach best result using "normal" way to bench.

Nice ide for sure but it isn't worth doing like this when you have a lot of troubles or at least signal loss.
Love the CPU POT on VGA but until someone make safe/full-signal extender, we'll stick to the classic (vga pot) benching

    Great idea, one more time!

I am impressed to see it working! I thought these extenders aren't meant for GPUs nor any other PCIe 2.0 device.

I wanted to try such an experiment two years ago but on the internet I saw several people saying their graphics card was not working properly with it, so never actually tried it.

    Kudos to you!

    Bios my arss.....
I can fix this problem with a hardware mod....

that idea isn't new but I acutally never saw it working - most people I talked to that tried it had a lot issues with the cards not running, when they ran they couldn't oc that well and all so on.
Very nice to see it working and hopefully there will be working bridges for sale in europe as well. I know some guys that have tested like 2 or 3 different types. all with their issues and none worked well so far - could you find out any part number or so?

keep the results coming, great work!
