[EA] Battlefield 3 Officially Announced + Preorder

    Confirmed-
This is it! We are very excited to announce the first details on Battlefield 3 and to kickstart the preorders for the Limited Edition!

Battlefield 3 is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box. As for fan favorite features, how does the return of jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer (on PC) sound? All this built with our powerful new game engine Frostbite 2, which you'll hear and see a lot of in the months leading up to launch. For the full reveal on Battlefield 3, stay tuned for links to our cover stories hitting the gaming press throughout February, starting with Game Informer right now.

Same basic playstyle. MOH is similar. The explodable maps are a good touch though.

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

All of those games feature quick respawn, quick reload, no HP (dictated by red outline), class warfare, unlocks, lowest denominator type gameplay, iron-sight type gameplay. Easy to kill, easy to respawn.

TF2 is different. So it CS. So it Quake. And L4D.

Those 4 you listed take large tolls on my patience level.

To each his own. I don't think BF3 will introduce anything new to what the standard run and gun blockbusters haven't done already.

I have been playing BF2 for a while and I really like it, since it's my first exposure to this style other than COD:WAW. But anymore and it would be more of the same.

I'm not a diehard TF2 fan, it's a great game but the reason why I like bad company 2 so much is that they complement each other through contrasting styles. This is why I don't feel like I need yet another run-and-gun game.

My next FPS purchase will most likely be Brink, from Splash Damage.

BC2 is run and gun...BF2 was not? What the heck are you talking man!? You seem to have an opposite opinion from everyone else who played BF2...

I think he has BC2 and BF2 mixed up.

I might pick up this game, even though I never owned BF2. We'll see when it comes out. I like how it's 10$ less for PC though, that's neat .

BF3 introduces new tweaks to the gameplay, like using any surface to put your gun on for better stability and dragging your injured teammates out of danger

Urban combat + destruction + 64 players = Pure chaos

This will be a blast, can't wait to play it

Holy Santa clause . Last time I built a comp was so I could play bf2. I might wait for the specs and benches to be released for a new build... so I can play this bad boy with all bells and whistles. I just hope some gameplay tweaks are made so the spawn spamming or invincible helicopters are a thing of the past. That's the reason why I stopped bf2 in the first place. Doubt it can dislodge tf2 as my numero uno though.

No, I was saying that BF: BC2 was the first popular run-and-gun I picked up, and it was a nice contrast to Valve FPSes. I have tasted both sides of the FPS camp, and I don't think horizontally buying COD, MOH, other BFs, and the like will be anything new.

That's why I'm waiting for Brink.

I'll have to upgrade or build a new computer IF it's better than BFBC2

I'll need at least Windows 7, maybe a new GPU and if I can swing it a SSD

Just the fact they have a co-op campaign makes it that much more awesome. I liked BC2, probably got about a good 60hr gameplay into it if not more.

Have you actually played any of the BF games? A 15s respawn is painful compared to something like Painkiller or Quake with a two to five second respawns. And one other thing, what is that bar at the bottom left of my screen in BF2? You know, the one with the bold plus sign next to it? The one that drops as I take damage?

Good luck trying run-and-gun in BF:BC2, you'll get sniped. BF2 you could run from one end of the map to the other and get a few good kills in but with BC2 you're dead as soon as you're exposed.

    No word on commanders.
It doesn't look that great to be honest.
Besides the actual BC2 net code is not as good as it should. How much better will frostbite 2.0 perform when 64 guys are around blowing buildings and stuff?
    Mmmm
