Core temps with this new L050A933 are great! about 5C lower across the board at stock compared to my L042B208. About to turn up the OC.
**EDIT** Looks promising!

Alright so here is something strange with Sandy Bridge I ran across. I managed to run IntelburnTest, LinX and Prime95 on my 2500k 4.8Ghz @ 1.340v. I went into Call of Duty Black Ops and within minutes I BSOD'd. After dropping ram to 2T and TRCD from 7 to 9 I still had the same issue. I found that the problem was the chip needed a bump in vcore to maintain stability in Black Ops over what IBT, LinX and Prime95 needed!! I bumped to 1.37 vcore, ram back to 7-7-7-24 1T and game both last night and today without an issue at 4.8Ghz. I'lm going to play with 1.36v and see if it's still stable there. I ran into this at 5.0Ghz too, IBT, Prime and LinX stable at 1.38 but crashed in COD BO right away. I'll go back to playing with 5.0 but I don't want to run 1.40+ for 24/7 overclock so 4.8 might be where I stay 24/7.
So just an FYI... you might need a touch more vcore when you finish stress testing and start actually gaming or whatever you use your PCs for.

Thats not surprising. Stability tests have somewhat of a restricted scope of usefulness. Its why I use BOINCIf my system runs BOINC, its stable.

yea I hear ya. Usually I might be able to get away with an unstable overclock in a game but LinX or Prime will immediately point me to the fact it's not 100% stable. Its just amazing it passed hours of Prime, IBT and LinX and a silly game like COD BO that isn't really even a stressful engine experienced a crash.
Gotta love overclocking!!![]()

An update here...
I've been stable for days, 24/7. I've been gaming, and basically folding 24/7. However, I wasn't prime stable, but what the heck, I was LinX/IBT stable so I thought prime must be flawed because I was really stable! Just got a BSOD 5min with an error code 124.. Go figure..
this version shows MaxTDP, even though it looks like the same version, its a couple days newer.

Thanks; I snagged it.
Uncleweb said there's another one that shows VID...but since RT can do that, no need for me to hunt that down.
Did you already buy them or did you just take the picture to show us? I saw those same batches at my local MC. I want to see how good the A853 batch is. I almost bought it, but decided to check here first before making a move. I will have a few 2600K afterward, which I can resell after I've found my golden chip.

Nice one viss , I wouldnt mind one of our rejects. My L041B204 and my D1 ES both need 1.5v for 5ghz, just the D2 will max at 5.3ghz (benchable but not really stable at 1.6v)

Dumo, can you give the batch # of all your 2600K CPUS? Do you have L040B305 and L042B208? I just wonder how far you are able to OC them. I guess the M4E is just that much better in OC these CPUs. I was ready to buy it but they took it off the list while I was at work. I hope when the good chipset version comes out, it will be even better then I will be really happy.

Shows how unlucky I am. I've had the chance to grab that B243 and a B208, chose the latter, and I'm not sure, it's either the chip sucks at OCing or my board sucks at OCing. Both of my chips max out at 5Ghz with 1.50V. Could just be the board, really don't know the real answer at this time since I only have one board to test the two CPUs.

Jcniest5, heres..
L042B208 53X(2 pcs)
L042B291 52X
L045A998 52X (2 pcs)
L037B224 52X
L042B243 53X (1 can run 58X)
LO50A853 53X
Now I believed that its the cpu, most walled @ 53X and a few out there that can go >54X easy. Batch # not a factor. For me is 1 out of 9 2600Ks
Problem is...no good mobo on sale![]()

Wow Dumo, nice x58!!
All these CPU's make me cry! Thinking about grabbing a L041C123, anyone see results from these yet? I've seen C124 is pretty good, but I haven't seen anyone with C123

Thought x57 was the max... guess that blows that out the water.
My GB UD5 only goes up to x57 there aint no x58
Edit: Think x57 is the max for the 2500K... 2600's go higher
