LOL you wont see problems, they said that no end user has yet been affected it was only an OEM or something, they said affected people are 5-15% after 3 years, that is a hit and miss i wont even be on this platform in 3 years, and i don't even user SATA3G, i have a C300. Either way this sucks but its kinda stupid, idk if I will waste time RMAing for a stupid problem.

well but that contradicts all cause how come they discover so soon if it will fail in 3 years ?

I have a feeling this is only going to wind up affecting people who have poorly ventilated cases that wind up around 65C+ average or higher (I know a few people like that), with dust bunnies dancing on their fan intakes, while the average person here will never see anything happen. We'll see if this winds up only affecting "hot boxes" or not.

Remember, many average joes have their cpu fans clogged and CPU temps often reaching into the 80's at *stock* load at normal program usage. I have a friend with an i7 920 that has such poor ventilation, that when I made him run prime95 for a test, it went past TJMax (Log) in a matter of minutes, according to realtemp. That's probably the focus of that. And he knows about his comp overheating, but I can't do anything for him since he's a minor and I have no access to his place until graduation. These boards and cpus and video cards have to be made to operate in and withstand constant temps of over 70C-80C, and if a PLL starts failing at 80C instead of 120C as originally intended, then you have a problem.

We won't know for awhile if a single user on these forums (who know how to maintain their systems) will be affected. Only thing that might take a hit is the resell value of the boards. And if systems wind up not dying enmasse, is anyone even going to remember this issue in three years?

The F00F bug was much, much worse than this; anyone could crash an entire network or domain with that...

    But we'll find out.

read up on some of the articles written about this problem, they single out a lot of things, people are going nuts for no reason, the OEMs are going nuts for a good reason, and Intel dropped the ball i hope they compensate the OEMs or its going to get ugly. They usually do the right thing, i don't think this will be a huge issue at all.

The only real effect from this drama could be if the companies are still going to be issuing out BIOS updates or if they're going to do some secret revisions that will only work on replacement boards...(you know, replacing some hush-hush component...or coming out with a Super Bios after March...)

LOL. Every P67 built to date is affected. It's a design flaw, not manufacturing, so it isnt a 5-15 % chance, it's a 100% chance, just depends on when, i'm sure some users might get it within 6 months while others get it in 3 years but it will happen.

Doesnt change the fact that every user who bought this board or any other p67 needs to RMA their board. which sucks.

is running 4 sticks on this board while overclocked a no go?
I have two sticks mushkin redline 6-8-6 running at 1600 with cpu at 4.9
tried to add two more, and wont do it.
Also I can not run 2 sticks of corsair 7-8-7 2000mhz at all. it will work if i set
auto timings, then it does 11-13-11 if i try 9-11-9 it wont go, even at 1800 or 1600.
I am keeping in mind what C-N said a few pages back about the IMC. but i see so
many people with 2600k's seem to be running 2000 on the ram even with high clocks.

I had some issues with 8GB 6-8-6 during testing for someone here, so I think it's just BIOS needs some tweaking still is all.
    http://www.mushkingames.com/phpbb2/v...ae6aed1a8b80cd

I was able to run the 8GB at 7-9-7 @ 1866 instead and it was much easier, so give that a shot instead - or try 7-10-7 at 2133 (untested, may need 8-10-8)

    Thank you for this info!
I'll look it over. May be a few days before i get to test any more though.

Think you will likely be fine IMC wise all I was referring to was my 2500K runs good speed with far lower voltage than my 2600K so for me the IMC appears weaker. See here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=510

Why don’t you boot up 4 sticks on auto & use AIDA to see what the chipset has set the sub timings at... you may be able to then manually set these & then lower primary’s.... worth a go IMO.

For the time being I have decided not to return my motherboard to the
retailer and have to wait till march/april for a replacement board.
My Wd 1002faex was already connected to sata3 and my remaining
Hd and DVD burner have now also been attached to the sata3 controller.

At first i tohught your chip was crap because you had to use 1.59v to get 2 cores to 5.3Ghz, then i noticed that BCLK overclock.

    Nice job

i think HT and cores turned on and off affects the CPU clock, not gpu clock...
