Sounds like a decent chip. You should definitely not be unhappy with 5 ghz on AIR. It wasn't that long ago that people needed sub zero to prime at 5 ghz, and here we are running 4.5 ghz on auto voltages.

Is that BIOS voltage setting or load setting in cpu-z?

Unless you're trying to use sub-zero, I wouldn't risk getting another chip only to find out it is worse than before, unless it's pretested somehow.

I would guess this fix could help some, from Asus bios thread.

    2. If you are receiving random BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) under Windows 7 OS without any warning at stock or what appears to be stable OC settings, please download the following patch from Microsoft to have the problem fixed (98% fix rate): This hotfix will be in SP1.

    @ Sniper

Great bit of info this would explain 2 small issues I had & thought the OS was borked so re loaded with SP1 & one went away... The other I will test out later more of a niggle than an issue.

Out of curiosity, those that have no problems booting up after a shut down. Do you have your eSATA, USB 3.0 options disabled ? Also, where did you stick your OS drive, i got my SSD on the SATA 3.0 (6gb/s) port - white SATA port. Cause i got everything enabled, lol.

    @ lsdmeasap

I just done a funny thing trying to get my 2500K past 5.4GHz I borked the bios & the recovery bios F5x got me going again back onto F6d. Afterward I thought I'd update the backup to F6d & not paying enough attention somehow managed to swap main for backup can you tell me how I can switch back.

Cool feature either way but I just dont remember what I did.

I have everything enabled but not using my SSD yet might build my UD5 into a case this weekend & fit my Vertex so will let you know if I have any problems.

I fitted my OCZ Vertex SSD today & all is well, I notice the Intel SATA ports make the PC boot into windows faster than the Marvel one.... its quick anyway but the Intel one is faster.

Yup they do like 20 second boot.

BTW for anyone interested I am now using EIST, it works great just get stable leave vid on normal & adjust vcore using the special add or whatever its called to get stable. 5GHz 1.375 vid + 0.01 for me gives 1.044 in CPU-Z at rest & the chip runs about 5~6oC above ambient..... fantastic

Edit I take that back.... voltage overshoot is huge testing with LinX, was ok with prime!...... Dont use it

If you get a chance try a raid setup with 7 Ult its simply awesome. I had one here a while back with two Corsair force F60 drives that was retarded fast. Biggest improvement to a comps performance I have seen in a while.

I'm in limbo with SSD's atm, I love raid have always used it sliced & R0 for my OS & mirror for my good stuff but with new faster SSD's coming out all the time I'm just going to wait till they drop in price & keep adding drives untill the tech levels out a bit & the price is less than a new car lol. Some sick drives out there atm

Did anyone try the new F6 bios?
Is CPU PLL removed from it like on the UD7 F7 bios?

    If you're still on it,
Can you manually put CPU PLL to 1.9v instead of 1.8, and see if that does the same thing in letting higher multi's work?

    http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/12...p67aud5.f6.zip

But I have no idea why they would remve this option!

Someone just tested and said it didn't help with higher multis....
But does PLL Overvoltage reappear in the BIOS if you change the Sleep mode setting ?

    (edit)
while you guys are at it, can you see if the cold boot double post/loop, after a hard power off (like, unplugging the Power supply/mains) has been resolved at least?

If your talking about changing from S3 to S1, then no the pll overvoltage doesnt reappear afterward.

Guys I was messing about the other day & not paying attention when trying to update the backup bios. I ended up swaping bios's!!! Anyway I figured it out ALT + F12 once = update backup ALT + F12 3 times = swap Bios. I now have F6 on one & F6d on the other & can just switch back & forth

Level 1 voltage in F6 looks like it has been eased back a bit but cant 100% tell as I can only run 4.9 without int pll so maybe the chip isnt loading as much Level 2 now works but spikes voltage bigtime dont use it.

This is the worst problem I have ever had with a mobo and coincidentally with my first Gigabyte mobo. If they don't fix it soon i think im going to exchange for ASUS. Its just ridiculous to work stable after the reboot when you re-enter the bios settings all day long but fails to boot with the settings. In my book this is not acceptable.
