I received word back from Taiwan last night in regards to Easytune and Bclk, and they have figured out what is causing the issue!

You must install Intel Management Software from the motherboard install CD.

So for anyone having issues with Easytune and changing Bclk as seen below, please install the following software from your install CD.

    Issue:

    Resolution:

    Problem solved!

Big thanks to the Gigabyte team, I spent many hours trying to find the cause of this and I'm sure others have as well!

    Gigabyte rocks as always!

Im perfectly stable at 2137mhz CL7-10-7-27 1T+ Turbo function on my memory menu + 4.9 GHZ CPU but the damn thing would not COLD boot properly at these settings or any other settings for the memory. But once it boots up after the second bios SAVE & EXIT it mops the floor with any NAHALEM out there...

Yeah it really is starting to get old now. Gigabyte needs to get on the ball and get a good bios out to us. The board is wonderful minus the dang bios.

I told you guys that the COLD BOOT (after shut down for a few minutes and than boot up) issue is connected with a PCI card. Look what i found:

    http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.p...ic,4157.0.html

PCI vid card = no boot for the guy. Im gonna have to try and remove my PCI sound card and see if i get the cold boot problem.

We need some1 here to collect all the issues and dump it to a Gigabyte engineer and lock him up in a room until fixed !!!

He mentioned that he did insert a PCI sound but the thing is its different than vid card and for me it doesnt cause BOOT LOOP, but failed clocks after shut down and boot up.

    ps; im evil.

You still have Failed Clocks after shut down and boot up ?

ps: I think they made it extremely sensitive because of that Dual BIOS mumbo jumbo...

I got some more 3DM action for all. everything was run at 5600mhz at 1.60v except for Cinebench R11.5 which was 5570mhz at 1.58v. Chip still runs great.

flesheat nice results bro, does it pas 32m?

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

Thanks again C-N and Johnny87au. Yes it can pass 32 meg though I have not really tried for a killer score yet, currently 6.29 min run.

I just had a look on HWBot & the best 2600K @ 5.8GHz is not using the max multi think its something like x55 + some bclk..... there are a few chips in there using low multi & higher bclk it might be worth playing with your chip as x53 & 104 = 5.5GHz

I know many people here would love to have a chip that can use mp 53. There are plenty of chips out there that cant even use 50.

The only skill in overclocking is getting the best out of what u got.... the rest is luck.

I'll gladly take that CPU off your hands.
What vcore does it need for 5 ghz?

2 cpu's produced next to each other can clock very differently. Microscopic differences and impuritys make them all unique.

But there is still some merit to the batch hunting, some batches produce a higher number of good chips compared to others.

So bying one chip from the net without even knowing batch is pure luck. Checking batches in forums etc might improve your chances by som percent.

Bying more than one chip increases your chance for a good one even further.

Asus tested 100 2600K, and without "Internal pll overvoltage" they found this:

    1. Approximately 50% of CPUs can go up to 4.4~4.5 GHz

    2. Approximately 40% of CPUs can go up to 4.6~4.7 GHz

    3. Approximately 10% of CPUs can go up to 4.8~5 GHz (50+ multipliers are about 2% of this group)

So if you buy 50 2600K, one of them should do 50+ mp.

With "internal pll overvoltage" enabled in bios you should add 3-5 more mp and that is the odds.

Later batches might push the percentages in either direction from what Asus found, and that is why we are all hunting
