Asus P8P67 resume from standby issue...

Hey guys

Just finished tunning my new setup running @ 4.8ghz and the only issue I now have is that the PC will not resume from standby / sleep.
Computers lights and fans are on, but no signal goes to my monitor or TV.

I tested the standby without the overclock with all default settings in the bios and it works just fine..

Anybody else?

From my experience, S3 resume is very sensitive to o'c stability so I would say that your o'c is probably still not stable enough for S3 to work.

None of my builds have ever been able to resume from standby If anyone figures out the trick for this board I'll be all ears

Ya, Same problem. I can run 32M HyperPi's all day or burn ins, but the resume looks like it's starting up the computer, but the monitor never wakes up and it's frozen. Only hard reset works after that.

This sucks for me...I had my old Q6600 IP35 PRO @ 3.6ghz 24/7 and standby worked like a beauty and the damn thing was never more than 30 seconds prime95 stable, however, it almost never crashed on me.

This new build passes Prime95, Lynx and the Intel burn test with no issues, yet it crashes out of the blue (only when I disable Speedstep...), and standby will not work for me

Most unusual, had no problems with S3 resume on the Asrock Extreme4 and the Pro over here.

I can sleep and wake up just fine with my P8P67 Deluxe, when overclocked or when stock. However, I have to click my mouse in order to wake it up from sleep; pressing keys on the keyboard will not wake it up.

What are your overclocked speeds?

I just tried my board @ 4.4ghz with 1.3V and standy is working again.
4.8ghz with 1.385V = PC won't resume from standby.

Does it boot back up ok at 4.8 ok if you power down?

Its weird. my board (p8p67 dlx) wouldnt resume from standy by so I held the power button till it went off. Turned it on, went through bios screens, and then it said waiting for resume........

If you have cpu pll voltage override enabled , it s normal !

I disabled PLL Overvoltage and it didn't fix anything.

The hotfix sounds promising. I do have a 2TB green drive. I might request that.

OK also with Sabretooth at 4.5GHz, using a 2TB SATA3 HD all along too.

FWIW, I don't think this is just an Asus problem. I had the same behavior on the Gigabyte UD4 board. It would sleep just fine at 4.5, but upping the clocks to 4.8 caused sleep to fail (it would either not wake up, or enter an endless reboot cycle).

Hmmm, now that I think about it - I did have PLL Overvolt off at 4.5 and on and 4.8.

I was actually having no issues resuming from sleep until upgrading to the latest 1253 BIOS (I was previously on 1053).

Now, it's the same as you guys. The system turns on, fans, lights, everything is spinning up... but nothing is sent to the monitor. If I do a hard reset, the system boots back up fine and then resumes using the Hybrid files that Windows stores.

It definitely has some impact (at 4.5 mine will sleep with PLL off, and not with PLL on) but it seems that at higher multipliers it doesn't work no matter how PLL is set (4.8 fails for me with PLL on and with PLL off).

S3 standby has ALWAYS been problematic on overclocked systems; it was designed for a normal stock running system (a mom and pop system), and it's always up to the board manufacturers to cater to overclockers who want to use S3.

Old 975X boards had issues resuming from standby until bios updates...I think the issue back then was either vcore or RAM timings reverting to default after standby ...

My previous Gigabyte P67A-UD4 also had sleep issues. Apparently it is a known Intel issue with PLL Overvoltage.

A friend of mine had a lot of resume after sleep issues with Vista. Short advice is; do NOT use / do not allow the computer to go into sleep mode!

Thanks for this guys, I disabled PLL overvolt and now can run my 2600K at 46x with S3 resume working fine. My temps are even a few degrees lower on load. Just wondering, any pros/cons to S3 vs S3+4 (hybrid sleep), especially with a SSD boot drive?

What options do you have enabled / disabled under CPU power management?
